July 4, 2011 | cheers | Sweet Recipes | Comments If Violet Beauregarde didn’t turn into a big blueberry and float away, she would’ve been around (and old enough!) To enjoy this Blueberry Mojito! Okay, my husband wrote that line, but I thought it was cute so I left it ; ) Anyway, HAPPY 4TH of JULY!!! You should all celebrate with this oh so Blueberry Mojito! Photo Credit: Sugar and Charm. Alcohol. Strawberry Vodka. I was scrolling through Twitter recently and one of the folks that I follow mentioned “Strawberry Vodka.” Normally fruit-flavored vodka wouldn’t interest me, I was happy to hear about a simple recipe and technique from Sean Timberlake of Punk Domestics, and since it was strawberry season and my market was bursting with fresh berries, I decided to give it a go. I made it myself the following day and it was quick, and wonderful. The flavor of the vodka is like drinking syrupy berries in their prime with a kick of alcohol in the aftermath, and it could not be easier to make.

It makes a great summer drink; just add an ice cube or two, and you’re ready to sip! I asked Sean if he’d like to write it up as a guest post to share, and he happily agreed. By Sean Timberlake of Punk Domestics Vodka infusions were my gateway drug to DIY (Do-It-Yourself) food. In many ways, it’s my favorite form of preserving. Always use perfectly ripe, clean and organic fruit. Related Links and Recipes Spritz. Unfettered F-U-N . . . Rainbow Jelly Shooter! Rainbow Jelly Shooter Its been a whirlwind at the test kitchen.

The book is progressing (crossing fingers that it is going to press in early December!) , we have been working on a little something (three little somethings, actually) for Saveur.com, and about a million more actions items cropping up here and there, many of which have not received appropriate attention and are currently housed in a bin marked "anxiety provoking". One of the highlights of our week was a lovely chat with Erin over at Tablespoon.com, who mentioned that they were hosting a Double Rainbow Week, which sounded like such fun!

So, when the weekend rolled around, rather than trolling cocktail books for jelly shot inspiration, we decided it was high time for a bit of unfettered f-u-n . . . I love the "rainbow" gelatin technique - borrowed from the popular recipe for kids' finger gelatin.
