Das Berliner Startup Amen sorgte mit vollmundigen Versprechen für Aufsehen. Er hat die Voraussetzungen, um ein internationaler Hit zu werden. [Update] Nahm das im Stealth-Modus befindliche Berliner Startup Amen den Mund zu voll, als es mit Superlativen und Vergleichen wie “besser als Pornos” auf die Jagd nach Aufmerksamkeit ging ? Mit dieser Überlegung war ich sicher nicht allein, nachdem ich mich mit den wenigen Informationsfetzen auseinander gesetzt hatte , die bisher über den von dem illustren Gründerquartett Felix Petersen (Gründer von Plazes), Florian Weber (erster Twitter-Entwickler), Caitlin Winner und Ricki Vester gestarteten Dienst bekannt waren. Auch dass Amen nur ein Scherz oder die Vorstufe zu einem anderen Produkt war, wollte ich nicht ganz ausschließen.

I built this software for myself, and then it turned out a million people wanted it exactly how I originally envisioned it. After hiring a few people, being the CEO became a lot easier, and I was able to focus on high-level strategic plans instead of fighting fires. I wish I had spent more time reading and weighing the pros and cons of various philosophies instead of just jumping in and doing what I thought was morally and financially sensible.

In einer aktuellen Studie der Hochschule Fresenius Köln, University of Applied Sciences, wurde in Kooperation mit Mitsubishi Motors Deutschland die Werbewirksamkeit von CaptchaAds untersucht. Es wurde festgestellt, dass der Einsatz von CaptchaAds zu einer 72-prozentigen Wiedererkennung der Marke führt. Die in der Studie untersuchten CaptchaAds sind ein neues Online-Werbeformat der Bonner CaptchaAd GmbH bei dem Captchas mit hochqualitativer, interaktiver Video-Werbung (Advertising) kombiniert wird. Durch den Einsatz von CaptchaAds soll es möglich sein, die Marken- beziehungsweise Produktwahrnehmung einer Online-Werbekampagne beim Nutzer messbar zu machen und hinsichtlich ihrer Werbewirkung verlässliche Zahlen zu generieren. Die Studie hat die CaptchaAds nun auf ihre Werbewirksamkeit im Vergleich zu etablierten Werbeformen untersucht.

Early in a startup, product decisions should be hunch driven. Later on, product decisions should be data driven. Hunches come from being a power user of the products in your category and from having a long standing obsession about the problem you are solving.

One of the most influential books of my career is The Innovator’s Dilemma by Clay Christensen . I cannot recommend it enough for people in the technology or media sectors. Many people bandy about the definitions of “disruptive technology” or “the innovator’s dilemma” without ever having read the book and almost universally misunderstand the concepts. Let me start with Professor Christensen’s definition: “An innovation that is disruptive allows a whole new population of consumers access to a product or service that was historically only accessible to consumers with a lot of money or a lot of skill.”
