My Sweet & Saucy - Part 11. Style Me Pretty Valentine’s Day Shoot February 14th, 2012 I got sweet surprise last week when I received an email from Abby who runs the fabulous wedding blog, Style Me Pretty…guessing most of your have heard about it Abby asked if I could create a Valentine’s Day cake just for SMP and of course I jumped at the chance!

I knew I had to ask Carlie, from Gabriel Ryan Photography, to shoot it for me since I am basically in love with everything she photographs! I absolutely adored Jeni’s furniture piece she brought and the paper flowers she accented it with were fabulous! For the cakes I thought we would do one of the new techniques we have been trying out at the bakery, which I am in love with…smooth ombre buttercream! Then for two of the side cakes we tried a new piping technique and incorporated the ombre shades as well…we added a golden XO and we were all set! We also threw in this adorable mini rosette cake too…how cute is it! Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my blog! ShareThis. Birthday Cake | For the Love of Cake. Gumpaste flowers can add an elegant and delicate element to any cake.

Although sugar flowers can be costly, as they are timely to create, they can add that WOW factor for your special event. Depending on your theme, colours and time of year you can choose from Gerber Daisies, Sunflowers, Roses, Peonies, Hydrangea, Violets, Hollyhocks, Calla Lilies, Petunias and many more seasonal flowers. All of our gumpaste flowers are created by hand so they are uniquely yours. The following photos are of a “Summery Basket” cake that was ordered for a surprise 40th birthday party in June 2009 held at the Toronto Lawn tennis Club. Google Image Result for. SECOND: Stack each size with the same size and icing in between then carve at a slant. each layer will be different.

THIRD: On top of the largest size cake put medium then put small on top of medium. FOURTH: I put four sticks right down the middle because with the cake being at a slant I wanted it to be very steady. FIFTH: Icing with black all over cake. SIXTH: While cake is sitting take your fondant white and roll out not to thin kind of thick. use ghost cookie cutter to make your ghost shapes. after ghost are cut use eatable glitter and dust all over the ghost. SEVENTH: With grey icing start piping with the smallest tip you out line of the house starting with bottom piece and work your way up then pipe your door and windows. outline the grey with white icing to give it a cool effect.fill windows with yellow icing. Blue Velvet Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting. My friend Alana hosted a "Galaxy Quest"-themed party this past weekend, complete with blue jello shots and blue mixed drinks, yum! So of course, I wanted to make a dessert and I wanted it to be blue. Red velvet cake is my favorite cake of all cakes! Thus, I decided to try to make it with blue food coloring instead and see how it turned out. I used an angel food cake recipe for the base and added a tablespoon of cocoa powder in an attempt to keep the cake from turning greenish from the egg yolks in normal red velvet recipes.

Because of the angel food base, the cake turned out with a much lighter flavor than red velvet, which is usually super rich. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring the syrup to the party. Blue Velvet Cake 1 and 1/4 Cups Cake Flour, sifted 1 and 1/4 Cups Ultra-Fine Sugar 11 Egg Whites, room temperature 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract 1 and 1/2 Teaspoons Cream of Tartar 1 Tablespoon Cocoa Powder 1/4 Teaspoon Salt 1 and 1/2 Cups Blueberries, fresh not frozen Cream Cheese Frosting.
