The Jasper Municipal Library has a new eBook service that allows patrons to access 15,000 new titles on their handheld devices. The service, free for all library card holders, is called Freading. To access the books, card holders visit the Freading website, click the book they want and download it onto their eReader, iPad or Android device. “Once choosing their top picks, patrons use a free weekly token system to borrow or renew eBooks with no wait times, no holds and no late fees,” said Janeen Keelan, adult events co-ordinator for the library. The cost of books varies from one to four tokens depending on the value assigned by the publisher. Each week, library members are given four tokens.
It is a priority for CBC to create a website that is accessible to all Canadians including people with visual, hearing, motor and cognitive challenges.

After 10 years of civil war, Sierra Leone is at peace. Charles G. Taylor, the former president of Liberia and once a powerful warlord, was convicted April 26 by an international tribunal of 11 counts of planning, aiding and abetting war crimes committed in Sierra Leone during it's civil war in the 1990s. Taylor was guilty of involvement in crimes against humanity and war crimes, including murder, rape, slavery and the use of child soldiers.
