Kenwood House will be closed until Autumn 2013 for major works, including urgent repairs to the roof and the exterior of the neo-classical house and a major re-presentation of the Robert Adam interiors. The beautiful grounds around Kenwood and its cafe will remain open for visitors. So come and enjoy a tasty lunch in the Brew House followed by a walk on Hampstead Heath. A small exhibition providing further information about the work being carried out on the house will be located in Mansion Cottage. Welcome to the website of the house and Museum of Sir John Soane, R.A., architect. Soane was born in 1753, the son of a bricklayer, and died after a long and distinguished career, in 1837. Soane designed this house to live in, but also as a setting for his antiquities and his works of art.
