Account Managemnet. Stakeholder Mangt. Images. Tech. Quantum. 10 principles of effective information management. Written by James Robertson, published November 1st, 2005 Categorised under: articles, information management Improving information management practices is a key focus for many organisations, across both the public and private sectors. This is being driven by a range of factors, including a need to improve the efficiency of business processes, the demands of compliance regulations and the desire to deliver new services. In many cases, ‘information management’ has meant deploying new technology solutions, such as content or document management systems, data warehousing or portal applications.

These projects have a poor track record of success, and most organisations are still struggling to deliver an integrated information management environment. Effective information management is not easy. This article draws together a number of ‘critical success factors’ for information management projects. From the outset, it must be emphasised that this is not an article about technology. Ten principles. CMM / CMMI Capability Maturity Model User Group. CMMI Compatibility. This information has moved to www.cmmiinstitute.com. As part of its mission to transition mature technology to the software community, the SEI has transferred CMMI-related products and activities to the CMMI Institute, a 100%-controlled subsidiary of Carnegie Innovations, Carnegie Mellon University’s technology commercialization enterprise.

The CMMI Institute will conduct CMMI training and certification, sponsor conferences and classes, and provide information about CMMI process improvement models and appraisals. The SEI will continue to pioneer and advance new research in the field of software process management. More information about our current work is available at.

As a professional instructor for business analysis and project management, I am often asked by students what questions they should ask stakeholders during the elicitation interviews.

Generic Questions for Interviewing Stakeholders

Of course the answer is that it depends on the solution scope. However, the business analysis team can use a list of generic questions as a start for all the interviews. With this in mind, I have developed a list of generic questions. I started first with a mind map to organize my thoughts. With the purpose (Stakeholder Interview Questions) in the center of the map, I branched out in four need directions or threads: Business, Capabilities, Change, and System.

The mind map (Figure 1) is below, followed by a list of questions derived from the map keywords. I recommend the business analysis team start with this generic list and augment it with solution scope specific questions. Don't forget to leave your comments below.
