Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) Amazon RDS gives you online access to the capabilities of a MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Amazon Aurora relational database management system.

Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS)

This means that the code, applications, and tools you already use today with your existing databases can be used with Amazon RDS. Amazon RDS automatically patches the database software and backs up your database, storing the backups for a user-defined retention period and enabling point-in-time recovery. You benefit from the flexibility of being able to scale the compute resources or storage capacity associated with your Database Instance (DB Instance) via a single API call. Database Instances using Amazon RDS's MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL engines can be provisioned with General Purpose (SSD) Storage, Provisioned IOPS (SSD) Storage, or Magnetic Storage. In addition, Amazon RDS makes it easy to use replication to enhance availability and reliability for production workloads.

Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS) Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS) is a fast, reliable, scalable, fully managed message queuing service.

Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS)

SQS makes it simple and cost-effective to decouple the components of a cloud application. You can use SQS to transmit any volume of data, at any level of throughput, without losing messages or requiring other services to be always available. With SQS, you can offload the administrative burden of operating and scaling a highly available messaging cluster, while paying a low price for only what you use. Amazon SQS provides significant advantages over the complexity of home-grown message queuing systems or the ongoing expense of licensed or hosted messaging systems. Amazon SQS runs within Amazon’s high-availability data centers, so queues will be available whenever applications need them.

Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) SimpleDB. Amazon SimpleDB is a highly available NoSQL data store that offloads the work of database administration.

SimpleDB

Developers simply store and query data items via web services requests and Amazon SimpleDB does the rest. Unbound by the strict requirements of a relational database, Amazon SimpleDB is optimized to provide high availability and flexibility, with little or no administrative burden. Behind the scenes, Amazon SimpleDB creates and manages multiple geographically distributed replicas of your data automatically to enable high availability and data durability. The service charges you only for the resources actually consumed in storing your data and serving your requests. You can change your data model on the fly, and data is automatically indexed for you. The service allows you to focus fully on value-added application development, rather than arduous and time-consuming database administration.

Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) is a web service that provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud.

Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)

It is designed to make web-scale computing easier for developers. Amazon EC2’s simple web service interface allows you to obtain and configure capacity with minimal friction. It provides you with complete control of your computing resources and lets you run on Amazon’s proven computing environment. Amazon EC2 reduces the time required to obtain and boot new server instances to minutes, allowing you to quickly scale capacity, both up and down, as your computing requirements change.

Amazon EC2 changes the economics of computing by allowing you to pay only for capacity that you actually use.
