Klo captured the beach from a mountain range looking down on the beautiful beach. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find much additional information about the beach and surrounding area. After searching through Norway’s tourism site, I believe this view can be seen on a coastal trek from Stave to Bleik. Lake Hillier: The Pink Lake in Australia. Dec 3, 2012 Lake Hillier is a pink-coloured lake on Middle Island in Western Australia.

Lake Hillier: The Pink Lake in Australia

Middle island is the largest of the islands and islets that make up the Recherche Archipelago, a group of about 105 islands and over 1,200 ‘obstacles to shipping’. The tiny lake only spans about 600 meters wide but its rose pink colour is unmistakable. However, the reason why it’s pink remains a mystery. The shallow briny lake is rimmed with white salt and encircled by dark green forests of eucalyptus and paperbark trees. The River of Five Colors: Cano Cristales, Colombia. Photograph via iClickfun.com In Colombia, Rio Cano Castales, or the ‘river of five colors’, is a special place where for a brief period of time every year when the conditions are just right, the river explodes with vibrant colours your eyes won’t believe.

During the short span between the wet and dry season, when the water level is just right, a unique species of plant that lines the river floor called Macarenia clavigera turns a brilliant red. It is offset by splotches of yellow and green sand, blue water, and countless shades in between. Additional information below along with beautifully captured photographs, enjoy! I always nodded in agreement because it struck me that most people shared the same sentiment, regardless of their origin. This says to me, that natural beauty and splendor are everywhere. Our planet is a wonderful place and there are countless gems like the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia, for us to appreciate and preserve. The Plitvice Lakes National Park was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. Photograph by Roman Bonnefoy The National Park covers a total area of 300 square kilometers (116 sq. miles), whilst the lakes join together over a distance of eight kilometers (5 miles). The lakes are renowned for their distinctive colours, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue. 15 of the Most Beautiful Crater Lakes in the World.

A crater lake is a lake that forms in a volcanic crater or caldera, such as a maar; less commonly and with lower association to the term a lake may form in an impact crater caused by a meteorite, or in an artificial explosion caused by humans.

15 of the Most Beautiful Crater Lakes in the World

Sometimes lakes which form inside calderas are called caldera lakes, but often this distinction is not made. Crater lakes covering active (fumarolic) volcanic vents are sometimes known as volcanic lakes, and the water within them is often acidic, saturated with volcanic gases, and cloudy with a strong greenish color. Lakes located in dormant or extinct volcanoes tend to have fresh water, and the water clarity in such lakes can be exceptional due to the lack of inflowing streams and sediment.

The Glass Beach in California. Jan 14, 2013 In MacKerricher State Park, near the city of Fort Bragg in northern California, you will find a beach littered with glass. Over decades of crashing waves the glass has been smoothed and rounded, transforming the shoreline into a colourful palette of pebble-like glass and sand. From 1906-1967 (the start date is up for debate), seaside towns were known to use the coastline as dumps, Fort Bragg was no different. After the devastation of the San Francisco earthquake the streets were filled with rubble and trash was dumped on the coast for the ocean to wash away. This of course, included plenty of glass. It wasn’t until 1967 when city leaders and the North Coast Water Quality Board realized what a mistake it was and sought to relocate the dump away from the ocean and clean up the shoreline. Glass Beach was purchased by California State Parks in October 2002. As word of this unique beach spread, more and more visitors descended onto Glass Beach.
