DIY: tubular machine knitting... and a knot pillow. I had to practice using my knitting machine, and with the two beds machines, one of the first lessons on the manual is about how to knit in tubular. I thought that doing the same thing over and over is actually the key to getting it right... right? 4 bights turk's head knot pillow: supplies (but considering that I unraveled a big chunk at the end probably 3 would have been enough) 4 bights turk's head knot pillow: tutorial The finish measure of this pillow is 52cm x 52 cm // 20.5" x 20.5" It's large: it would be perfect as floor pillow (but I would scotch guarded in that case). First, I doubled the yarn and because I wanted a thick knit I passed it twice by the bobbin winder with paraffin. Then I casted on and started to knit in tubular 30 stitches on each bed: first few rows with scrap yarn, then knitted the cotton on tension 2 on both carriages for ... 6,200 rows.

That was the easy part. Actually, pushing down the stuffing isn't the worst part. My hands were sore at the end of this operation. Fabric Wigwam Tutorial. DIY: Glittery Soles | could i have that? While at the Lanvin showroom in Paris I spotted the prettiest pair of glittery soled stilettos (seen here) and have been thinking about them ever since. I love a touch of understated glamour and these were too perfect for a casual look in need of some subtle bling. So I got to work on a rainy day and wore them the next day—see what I paired them with! Below is a simple tutorial with a few tips I picked up during my glittery project. Step 1: Tape the bottoms where the outsole arch ends.

Step 3: Paint on the glue with a paintbrush, cover with glitter and shake off over a nearby sink. Step 4: Once dry paint on another layer of the glue/seal. Tip: I did the inside of the heel as well and loved how it turned out. Step 5: Once they’re dry tap them a little to make sure the glitter is on there good… or you can leave a sparkly trail for a little while. Tip: To clean up the edges and bottom I took a damp cloth and lightly picked up stray glitters and used scotch tape to pick up any glue debris. 20 Free Disney Princess Costume Patterns & Tutorials. DIY Feather Clips Ruffled. I’m excited to welcome back Jenny of Hank and Hunt to our DIY column! You may remember this DIY project from a few years ago. I will let her take it from here: Want to add a quick pop of color and frivolity to your wedding? Find a brightly colored boa and make a few poms to use anywhere and everywhere through out the day. You will need: feather boa 1 1/2″ wood circles hot glue gun shoe clips, pins or other style of attachments scissors Plug in your glue gun and let it heat up.

Once set, add another arc from the center about 3/4″ long, pull feathers back and press boa into the glue. For shoe clips, as seen here, attach clips with hot glue on the back of the wood circles. However you choose to incorporate them, I’m loving them with this cerulean blue shade. Images and Project: Jenny Batt of Hank and Hunt for Ruffled. How to make your own dress form. Today's post was supposed to be an outfit with this Pollock Impulse DIY dress, but the weather in Barcelona hasn't been so good this week (and I couldn't get the pictures done outdoors).

Anyway I simply couldn't wait to show it to you guys, so here is the DIY tutorial. It's super easy, you just have to get some textile paint, a brush and release your inner energies. ¡That's all! For this DIY I was inspired by Pollock's artworks but also by this dip dyed skirt I saw on A Pair & a Spare. Xxx. DIY: Artsy Pouch. I've started 'test-making' things to gift for Christmas, and I started with this pouch. I find it hard to come across pretty modern fabrics that are really cheap, so I took it upon myself to just paint on my fabric of choice. Read on for the tutorial..ish @_@ Canvas fabric - preferably the heavy-weight kind of canvas used for painting (I have a lot of scraps from my brother making his own canvas boards) Tape - painter's tape works best for me First, cut up your tape. On your canvas fabric (cut down to your pouch size + about 1/2" all around seam allowance), stick two tape strips diagonally as shown, Make sure they are parallel to each other.

Next, tape down the remaining two strips, making sure they are parallel to each other. Mix your acrylic paint and white fabric paint - your resulting color will be lighter than the base color, so beware. Next, paint on the remaining parts. Not happy with imperfect edges? Yeah, that imperfection really bothers me. DIY Découpage Floral Bag.

When H&M asked us to DIY a boho-inspired item for their summer issue, découpage was the first thing that came to mind. (all images by HonestlyWTF) Two pocket, ultra slim fabric card case — insatiable need. A few weeks ago, I went to Dallas for the wedding of a friend of mine from college, and unsurprisingly, the reception ended up doubling as a mini college reunion. Some of those people I literally hadn’t seen since graduation day.

Naturally, the experience got me thinking about the thing I am always thinking about: sewing. (really). I already make a cute little single pocket card case/wallet thing that people love to impulse-buy at craft shows, but occasionally I get asked about one with two pockets, that would fold in half. why 19th street? Remembering our 19th street adventures made me think of that critical accessory (nobody carried purses when we went out), and how a handmade version would be pretty cute, and super useful.

I also used lightweight fusible interfacing, but that’s also optional, especially if you use something a bit heavier for the outside. the pattern…is really just two rectangles. Have fun! RIT Dye Tutorial. It happens to me every year. The second spring hits, I’m standing in front of my closet going, I am so sick of all my clothes, if I see that shirt again I’ll throw up, but I don’t have any money for new stuff, I’M SO TIRED OF EVERYTHING I OWN. You know that feeling? Let’s kill it with instant-wardrobe-transformer (aka RIT dye). RIT is a brand of clothing dye that’s been around since the 1930s. To these! And it’s not even hard. Now, there are other kinds of clothing dye out there, but I chose RIT because it’s got simple instructions on the back of the package, it costs about $3 per box, and you can find it almost everywhere in the U.S.

I’m gonna show you how to do a basic stovetop dye job. But! OK! You will need: Something to dye: choose a white, off-white, or beige item of clothing made of natural fiber (cotton, wool, silk, linen), a blend of natural fibers (like a cotton/linen blend), nylon, or rayon.
