Regardless of how crazy our lives get, we always need to spend time with friends and family. we’ve recently started hosting a regular sunday dinner at our apartment, where we invite a couple friends over to hang out, catch up and eat some homecooked food. all these guests mean a lot of empty wine bottles. but instead of recycling them, we decided to recycle a project we posted last year. using the same technique we showed you to make the bud vase trio, we simply cut these bottles at different heights to create a bunch of new vases, and some great new candle holders. and there it is. an entire tablescape for next sundays dinner. click here for the full project instructions, or just click “read more” below. have fun!

The party is to be on an island and in a field so the natural and handmade elements are a perfect fit. We’ve been spending time with Aleah’s parents on the island and Aleah’s dad showed us the ropes for using his glass cutting tools to make the perfect cut. You’ll need: empty wine bottles with the labels removed | a glass cutting tool kit | ice | Carborundum Grit #100 | a large candle Step 1: take your glass cutting tool and set so that the blade will be about 6-8″ from the bottom of the wine bottle {dependent on how tall you want your glass -we found that a little taller of a glass bypassed the weak point in a bottle}. Cut a circle around the bottle slowly. How-to and photos from Valley & Co. Planters | Score + Solder. Top 5 Kid Crafts-Vases For Mothers Day.

DIY Gift: Terrarium Kit. November 30th, 2012 It’s widely accepted that terrariums are awesome, which means they also make awesome gifts. It’s hard to wrap a terrarium though, so a DIY kit is the perfect solution. It would be easy to whip up a whole bunch of these kits if you need a lot of inexpensive, creative gifts. Or wouldn’t they make amazing party/wedding favors? To make your kit, first put about an inch of small stones in the bottom of a jar. Print a 3 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ terrarium instruction card on card stock, and cut it out (download printable cards here—for personal use only please). If you’re feeling ambitious you could make a few polymer clay mushrooms to include in your terrarium kit. Tie some twine or ribbon around the jar, and you’re done. Bottle Lamp DIY.
