Architecture / Interiors, 40 under 40, 2012 - PERSPECTIVE. I Spy DIY. DIY Box Braid Necklace. The moment we saw Phillip Lim‘s Box Braid Collar Necklace, we were immediately overcome with a wave of nostalgia. Our memories of a neon, plastic box braid lanyard was suddenly transformed into a sophisticated leather jewelry component. Honestly, brilliant! Inspired by our fondness of Lim’s necklace and our love of utilizing hardware, we made our own interpretation of a box braid necklace. And in case you forgot how to make your favorite childhood summertime craft, take a trip down memory lane with us!

Start by cutting the suede in 4 three-yard pieces. Repeat the box braid until you are ready to add washers to the necklace. Once the necklace is finished, trim the ends. Wear it as a necklace, wrap bracelet or even a headband! WORLD MAPS

Perhaps it’s the nerdy urban planner in me, but to me amazing maps can be just as satisfying as beautiful artwork – maybe even more so! I particularly like antique world maps, where the shapes of the continents are a little off, and the place names are different. Ceylon, Persia, Abyssinia, Constantinople and Saigon are just a few of the place names I wish were still used. Can’t wait to decorate the walls of my house in oversized maps or world map wall paper! DIY Woven Neon and Gold Chain necklace

I’ve been eyeing this Noir Neon Necklace for 3 months now, and only yesterday I had an epiphany to make a necklace myself. I finally put to use the embroidery threads I bought a year ago when hoping to make friendship bracelets. I combined the threads with a gold chain necklace that was bought for my baby Anastasia to play. As she likes playing with my Mimcos I thought it’s better to give her a sparkly cheapie to play with instead.

From the initial idea to completion the necklace took me about 30 mins. C Star Events: DIY Bracelets. The days are getting noticeably shorter and the mornings, chillier; it’s hard to deny that autumn is upon us.

Foldschool - cardboard furniture.
