Într-o lume în care toți oamenii sunt ahtiați după bani, renunțând de la onoare și până la ultimul sentiment al umanității doar pentru a mai face un ban în plus, există și anumite personaje care vor să revoluționeze această perspectivă învechită.
Unul dintre ei este Elf Pavlik, un tânăr de origine poloneză, care de foarte mulți ani și-a croit o viața în care nu se regăsesc deloc banii. Elf este specialist în IT și se implică voluntar în diverse proiecte. Nu cere bani pentru munca sa, ci este mulțumit doar cu hrană sau câteva haine la schimb. Tânărul crede că banii există doar în relațiile dintre oameni și în cele din urmă le strică. A munci doar pentru lucrurile necesare îi conferă mult mai multă libertate și nu se mai simte deloc îngrădit. Din dorința de a-și spori și mai mult libertatea, polonezul susține că a renunțat a se mai considera de origine poloneză și nu folosește o carte de identitate sau un pașaport.
