Blackwater Snags $120 Million Contract In Afghanistan | TPMMuckr
Whether or not Erik Prince is fleeing America for the United Arab Emirates, his military contracting company continues to thrive on lucrative government contracts. The latest: the Obama Administration has awarded Xe, formerly known as Blackwater, with a $120 million contract to provide security for U.S. consulates in Afghanistan. The contract could last as long as 18 months. The contract, which was awarded by the State Department to Xe’s U.S. Training Center , was first reported by CBS Friday night.

It was no surprise that the Israeli government rejected an international and independent inquiry about its assault and massacre of humanitarian activists -eight Turkish and one American- aboard the ship Mavi Marmara on May 31. With support of an increasingly discredited Obama Administration, Israel is doing its best -including fake promises of an “easing” of the Gaza blockade- to persuade the international community to forget the UN Security Council´s call for “a prompt, impartial, credible and transparent investigation conforming to international standards”. Israel has announced that it will only accept its own internal probe. In order to badly disguise the farce, Israel has agreed on the appointment of two foreign experts for the inquiry. One of them is Northern Ireland´s Lord David Trimble, who according to the Jewish Chronicle, “previously called on Israel to stand firm on the boycott of Hamas.”

These base Republican voters dislike Barack Obama to be sure – which is not very surprising as base Democrats had few positive things to say about George Bush – but these voters identify themselves as part of a ‘mocked’ minority with a set of shared beliefs and knowledge, and commitment to oppose Obama that sets them apart from the majority in the country. They believe Obama is ruthlessly advancing a ‘secret agenda’ to bankrupt the United States and dramatically expand government control to an extent nothing short of socialism. While these voters are disdainful of a Republican Party they view to have failed in its mission, they overwhelmingly view a successful Obama presidency as the destruction of this country’s founding principles and are committed to seeing the president fail.
