The internetworking of physical devices, vehicles, buildings and other items—embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity that enable these objects to collect & exchange data.

Global Standards Initiative on Internet of Things (IoT-GSI) defined the IoT as "the infrastructure of the information society."The IoT allows objects to be sensed and/or controlled remotely across existing network infrastructure of the information society.=improved efficiency & $benefit. Open311: Explained. In the previous blog post we explained why we think Open311 is a good idea.

Open311: Explained

In this post we’ll explain what it actually does. Open311 is very simple, but because it’s fundamentally a technical thing it’s usually explained from a technical point of view. So this post describes what Open311 does without the nerdy language (but with some nerdy references for good measure). At the end there’s a round-up of the terms so you can see how it fits in with the actual specification. We’re using an unusual example here — a blue cat stuck up a tree — to show how applicable Open311 is to a wide range of problems. So… someone has a problem they want to report (for this discussion, she’s using a service like FixMyStreet). There’s one place where that report needs to be sent (in the UK, that’s your council).

I have a problem :–( the “client” I fix problems! The “server” In this example, FixMyStreet is an Open311 client and the council is an Open311 server. Service discovery What services do you offer? Hey! First Grant: $5,000.00 for API Libraries – IOTAtangle – Medium. At the Foundation, our main priority is to support the growth and development of IOTA and its ecosystem.

First Grant: $5,000.00 for API Libraries – IOTAtangle – Medium

Now that the core of IOTA is finalized, it’s time to (finally) open up IOTA for developers and unleash the amazing new projects that will be enabled by it. To kickstart this process, the Foundation will establish the first official development grant of $5,000.00. These $5,000.00 will be dedicated towards the development and testing of core API libraries, as well as the creation of simple Proof of Concepts that utilize these libraries. This should help developers get accustomed to IOTA and easily start integrating IOTA into their projects.

Currently, we have initiated the development of the Javascript, C#, Java and Python libraries.

Wal-Mart Tackles Food Safety With Trial of Blockchain - Bloomberg

The sliced apples or cut broccoli -- the merchant won’t say what’s involved exactly -- are being used to test blockchain, a new database technology. If successful, the trial could change how Wal-Mart Stores Inc., which serves some 260 million customers a week, monitors food and takes action when something goes wrong. That could spur big leaps in food safety, cut costs and save lives. Like most merchants, the world’s largest retailer struggles to identify and remove food that’s been recalled. When a customer becomes ill, it can take days to identify the product, shipment and vendor.

“It gives them an ability to have an accounting from origin to completion,” said Marshal Cohen, an analyst at researcher NPD Group Inc. “With blockchain, you can do strategic removals, and let consumers and companies have confidence,” Yiannas said. Drawing representing the Internet of Things The Internet of things (stylised Internet of Things or IoT) is the internetworking of physical devices, vehicles (also referred to as "connected devices" and "smart devices"), buildings and other items—embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity that enable these objects to collect and exchange data.[1][2][3] In 2013 the Global Standards Initiative on Internet of Things (IoT-GSI) defined the IoT as "the infrastructure of the information society.
