One thing I love about our new house is that we actually have a fireplace mantle!

This is exciting since our old house had a mantel-less fireplace, which I always felt was a sad looking sight once Christmas time rolled around each year. So the fact that I can now do amazing things like hang stockings and garland makes me beyond happy :) I wanted a somewhat simple garland for the fireplace and something that added a little hint of Christmas cheer without being too loud. Not sure if that even makes sense but half of the decorating thoughts in my head don't make sense. This turned out exactly like I visioned (almost never happens) and I love the little sparkle it gives my living room. Beading Tutorial: Connecting St. Petersburg Chain

Petersburg chain might not seem like the most versatile stitch. It’s great for necklace straps and simple bracelets, fringes, and even dangle earrings, but apart from changing up the bead sizes and patterns, what can you do with it? Although St. Petersburg can only be stitched in a limited number of ways - unlike peyote or herringbone - it actually has a few additional tricks beyond single and double chains. You can connect chains of St. Triple and Quadruple St. Begin by weaving a double St. Before starting the third chain, use your needle to nudge the tip beads from chain 2 so that they are resting horizontally, with the hole pointing North-South. Spirales. Wire wrapping. With my son starting preschool in just a couple of weeks, I've suddenly gotten nostalgic for all things back-to-school. Going back to school every September was always exciting for me - I was anxious to learn new things and see my friends after a long summer off from school. This year, I'm taking myself back to school and learning all I can about making my own wire jewelry findings like ear wires and clasps.

Now that I've been hooked on making Viking knit chains out of colorful craft wire, I'm finding that I really enjoy being able to make my own wire jewelry findings for all of my beautiful beadwork! Making your own jewelry findings using wire is a great way to not only save money but also to give your handmade beaded jewelry a unique touch. But if you don't know much about working with wire, trying to pick the right one for your jewelry making supplies can be confusing - and expensive! The first thing you'll need to know is your wire gauge. Bead Happy, Jennifer P.S.

Basic Techniques. Beading Tutorial: Chevron Chain with Tilas. Miyuki will be launching 30 new Tila two-hole bead colors this fall, with lots of fun shades, including some new non-metallic colors that beaders are sure to love.

Beading Tutorial: Chevron Chain with Tilas

These unique little seed bead cousins are really fun to use, although they take some getting used to. Ever since the original release of Tilas, beaders have been looking for ways to weave them with their other seed bead favorites. Openwork stitches are ideal for Tilas, because they work well with the double hole design. Using Tilas as shared or anchor beads in netted beadwork makes for some fun variations on classic styles. In anticipation of the new Tila colors, we’re going to take a look at incorporating Tilas into basic chevron chain, then double up for a mirror effect. Chevron chain is a variation of netting that can be divided into three sections: the outer loops, and central zigzags, with shared beads connecting them.

One Tila equals about three 11/o seed beads, and they are mirrored here by two 6/o Czech seed beads. Do It 101 Free Beading Instructions Free Beading Patterns.
