Patterns. What would Love Week be without having some friends around? Michelle Clement is a gifted illustrator, designer and crafter. She has a bright and playful style that you can't help loving. I invited her to share something here, and when I heard what she was working on, I audibly gasped. Seriously! So please welcome Michelle, and show her some love! Hi, guys! This is Michelle from Scissor Quirk, with a super-sweet Valentine's crafty freebie, today, just for you! Aah. So I created this free Valentine pattern for you, 'Love in the Middle' - cuz that's where the heart is! I think it will make a lovely edition to my craft space (under my heart garland, of course), but how cute would it be to give one your crafty Valentine friends or display at your pink cupcake party? Happy embroidering (and early Valentine's day!) Thank you so much, Michelle! March Stitchalong: Happy Birthday, Feeling Stitchy! March is a very special month on Feeling Stitchy - our blog is turning 5 years old!

In honor of our birthday, someone very special created a free pattern set for this month's stitchalong - Mollie Johanson of Wild Olive! By the way, that little piñata was stitched and photographed by Mollie herself - eeeep! I was beyond thrilled when I saw these adorable little patterns - such sweetness: Even sweeter were the colors Mollie chose - perfect Fiesta colors - which is, by the way, a huge street party held in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas every year. Whether she planned it or not, these colors remind me of all that and make me extremely happy!

Thursday = embroidery. Just a quick post today to share this week's vintage embroidery transfers: {full set available here} happy stitching! Meet Me At Mikes : Good Stuff For Nice People: Mike's Stocking Stitchalong - Episode 5 - Cam Learns To Backstitch. Cam's got his needle threaded and his work on his hoop! Go Cam! See the tip of the needle poking up through the poor boy's hip?! Pulling the needle and floss through to the top... Now he's pushed the needle up (from underneath his hoop) and through to the top of his work. The needle needs to come up smack bang on your drawn on line. Then he pulls the needle and floss through to the top. Next, he pushes the needle back down through the work (on the line again). Look... he's pulling the floss down and through - his needle now underneath the work.

There you have it! Look above - See that he's bringing the needle up again to the top of the work - but notice the gap?! Now push the needle back down into your work (as above) - it needs to go down into the end of the previous stitch - there's a tiny hole there where you came up before - so poke the needle back into that hole and back through and down under your work.

Now look! Now do the same thing again (like Cam's doing above!) Thanks Cam! Embroidery. Whenever I travel I make sure to plan ahead & get some projects together to bring with me. on this trip my destination provided inspiration for one of the projects I brought along: the heart is appliqued onto the state & both were in turn appliqued onto a piece of linen. I used a sharpie paint pen to fill in the letters & painted the hoop. this week's vintage embroidery has nothing to do with traveling or my hometown, I just thought it was nice: happy stitching!
