Salted Dark Chocolate Rolo-Filled Cookies - Ring Finger Tan LineRing Finger Tan Line. 27 Chocolate Desserts That Make Valentine's Day Worth Celebrating. Black Forest Pavlova with Espresso Cream. Recipe, photography and styling by Tanya Zouev. This weekend is Australia Day long-weekend. It’s been a weekend of celebrating with the quintessential Aussie barbie (BBQ), wearing the Australian flag printed on one’s t-shirt or bikini, screaming out “Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi” (unfortunately) and eating lamingtons (very fortunately). For some however it’s eating pavlova, and I’ve seen a fair few of them proudly shown off on Facebook and the usual social media sites this weekend.

Now I know there’s some debate (actually, a lot of debate) around the exact origin of the pav, I’ve even discussed this in a recent post. Yes I know it hails originally from New Zealand but for many it is still a major part of Australia Day celebrations. Since we don’t actually have very many dishes we can call upon as being authentically Australian cuisine, it’s understandable why. For example, may parents were migrants who came to this country in the late 1950’s (I am a first generation Australian). Method: Slutty brownies with white chocolate chips. Slutty brownies – I must have been one of the last persons on the planet to notice these floating around on the internet (like a year late), and even then it took me a while to actually make them: slutty brownies have not made it to the top of my to-do list for quite some time – and they should have!

Especially after I’ve added white chocolate chips to the brownie batter to add more creaminess and gooeyness! Having finally baked them, I can tell you that eating a slutty brownie is very much like having a cake, a brownie, a blondie, a layered dessert bar, or a fudge chocolate – all combined in one! Slutty brownie is basically 3 types of everybody’s favorite sweets combined in one tall dessert bar: brownies + oreos + blondies.

Brownies can be either cake-like, or taste more like a fudge – the texture depends on your flour-to-butter ratios and the baking times. Do not overmix blondie batter or brownie batter – just mix enough to combine dry ingredients with wet ones. Total time: 60 minutes. Rolo Cake Mix Cookies. Let me take you back in time about 12-ish years ago.* I was sitting in the kitchen unwrapping a bunch of caramel candies or Hershey kisses or Rolo candies or Reese’s or any number of other individually wrapped pieces of deliciousness. I was planning on putting the candy in some sort of baked good and there I was. Unwrapping. Finally I yelled out to my husband and said, “Husband!

My husband came running to hear this idea. “We’ll have children! My husband’s jaw dropped for he was in awe of his brilliant wife. The moral of that story is this: If you do not have children you should really fix that. Do not attempt these cookies without children as the most time consuming and annoying part of making these is the unwrapping of the Rolo candies and I don’t want you all to grumble and curse at me under your breath. Seriously simple, seriously delicious, and seriously fun. I’m super excited to be featured over on PBS Food today.
