Home Sweet Homebodies: Infant scratch mittens: tutorial and pattern

As a reminder, this pattern and tutorial represent a lot of time and effort, and I have made the decision to share it with you for free- because I want to- as long as people are using it correctly. So please respect that and give proper attribution if you share it on the web (no unauthorized redistribution, and no copying and pasting the tutorial, pattern and/ or photos please- 1 or 2 photos is fine however). I would like to request that you use it for personal use only (exceptions will be made in certain cases i.e. charity- please just ask first- it's the polite thing to do!).

I know most of you are honest and would never take advantage- thank you so much! The Pleated Mary Jane. Today I am sharing my all time favorite baby item.

The Pleated Mary Jane

Is there anything better than soft shoes for a little babies feet? The fun in making your own is you ca make a variety of them my daughter probably had at least 20 different pairs, it was fun making sure my little girl had a cute pair of shoes for every outfit. They also make great baby shower gifts as paired with the Abbey dress the set is my go to gift.

So they are a pretty simple Mary Jane shoe, the kind that everyone and her best friend have a pattern for, but since I like things a little different I added a sweet little pleat to the shoe. (plus it goes with the pleats in the Abbey top bonus!) So here is the pattern to download, and I hope it prints the right size for you. I made this hat for my friend Bear out of the versatile, sturdy Kona Cotton Essex which comes in great reds, whites, and blues.

Measure the widest part of your bodysuit. This is a 6-9 month Circo brand (from Target). You can see it’s about 8". Cut three 1.5" strips of fabric. Set your serger to a 3 thread rolled hem stitch. See? About 1" down from the top of the leg holes, measure the width of the bodysuit again. You’ll need 2 strips that are 2-3 times the length of your wider measurement and one strip that is 2-3 times the length of your shorter measurement plus.

Fold both ends of each strip under about 1/4" and press. Stitch down the ends you just pressed under. Sew a long gathering stitch down the very center of each strip. Set the strips to the side for a second. Fold each strip in half and mark the center. You’re going to attach the center row of ruffles first. Your first ruffle is attached now. I KNOW!!!
