Cultural Creatives. The Cultural Creatives: How 50 Million People Are Changing the World is a nonfiction social sciences and sociology book by sociologist Paul H.

Cultural Creatives

Ray and psychologist Sherry Ruth Anderson,[1] first published in 2000.[2] The authors introduced the term "Cultural Creatives" to describe a large segment in Western society that has recently developed beyond the standard paradigm of modernists or progressives versus traditionalists or conservatives. Ray and Anderson claim to have found that 50 million adult Americans (slightly over one quarter of the adult population) can now be identified as belonging to this group. They estimated that there were an additional 80–90 million "Cultural Creatives" in Europe as of 2000. Two types[edit] Ray and Anderson divide "Cultural Creatives" into two subdivisions: Core "Cultural Creatives"[edit] Just under half of the CC population comprises the more educated, leading-edge thinkers. AFRICAN PRINTS AS 'ETHNIC' TREND. In an article written for iFashion, Sandiso Ngobese discusses the upcoming South Africa Fashion Week in light of the international stage brought to South Africa by the FIFA World Cup.

AFRICAN PRINTS AS 'ETHNIC' TREND

He poses the question "Is African fashion ready for the world? ". With the presence of big name footballers like David Beckham, will we see big personalities in the fashion industry like Victoria Beckham on the front row? As it is, fashion in Africa is a closed industry appreciated by Africans only. According to Ngobese, the industry is still too young to have any significant impact. As a result, internationally acclaimed designers like Black Coffee and Stoned Cherrie lack the strong network structure within the industry itself that would propagate them to world status.

From the outside, it looks like a shop, but not the type of shop usually associated with a red glow in a city's back streets. El Mariachi is a bar; a favoured hang-out for musicians including, it is said, the singer Manu Chao. Inside is an assortment of plastic garden chairs and timeworn tables, none of which match, and an odd mix of beers and spirits for sale.

Mix & Match Dining Furniture — House*Tweaking

I love interiors that mix different styles together to create a truly unique space. In the 3 years that we’ve lived in this spec house, I’ve slowly introduced this idea into my own home to keep it from feeling too cookie cutter-ish. There’s one space in particular that I see a lot of homeowners reluctant to utilize this concept…the dining area. Maybe it’s because I’m from the midwest. I know so many people who think it’s a travesty to separate matching dining sets: table, chairs, buffet, sideboard. A rustic masculine table is softened by curvy upholstered chairs.

A simple modern table mixes well with more ornate chairs. A traditional wood table warms up glossy metal chairs. And if you’re feeling especially rebellious, you can even mix up the chairs. Polyvore.
