Situated in Luxembourg, Eurostat is the Statistical Office of the European Communities. Its key role is to provide the European Union with a high-quality statistical information service that enables comparisons between countries and regions. Eurostat's principal database is the New Cronos - which contains high quality macroeconomic and social statistics data covering not only European Union (EU) Member States but also many of the central European countries, Japan, the United States and the main economic partners of the EU. The New Cronos database contains monthly, quarterly, bi-annual or annual data from 1960 onwards, depending on the variable and country selected.
Data are available for all EU countries but coverage does depend on the variable and time period required. Data is also available for the sub-national areas within the EU countries.
