Contributed by Sarah Taylor, Tauranga Primary School , Tauranga Focusing Inquiry The aim of this snapshot is to demonstrate how the effective integration of iPads in a Year 2 classroom has enhanced the programme and has helped to meet the learning needs of the students. At Tauranga Primary School, a major priority for our future focused strategic direction is to update our classrooms into 21st century learning environments. We believe that we will be better able to meet the learning needs of the ‘digital generation’ we now teach by blending the very best of traditional teaching practices with the huge potential of ICT. At the beginning of Term 3, 2011, two classrooms (a junior and a senior class) were selected to trial five iPads in their rooms. Having two teachers involved in the trial meant that the teachers were able to discuss and compare their findings.
