http://www.learninggeneralist.com/2010/12/what-constitutes-social-learning.html I've often thought of social learning as a very culture dependent phenomenon. A few weeks back I read an interesting article by Thierry de Baillon, his conclusion being - we don't need more social platforms, we need more human companies . A lot of social software marketing seems to suggest that the tools will change the world. Unfortunately, as we've seen on several occasions, usable tools have nothing to do with adoption . On the other hand, I also see quite an amazing culture at ThoughtWorks .

What constitutes a Social Learning Culture?

This article was co-authored with Steve LeBlanc , one of my favorite collaborators. Social learning is not just the technology of social media, although it makes use of it. It is not merely the ability to express yourself in a group of opt-in friends.

Perhaps the new social media experience will teach us new tricks to get over the writer's block. by pauljacobson Dec 16

I know what you mean, I've a hard time capturing the book others are expecting from me. by dcoda Dec 15

I haven't written the novel because I could not develop the lead female character - she had to be beyond contemporary. However, many people have asked me to write the travel stories down: "and if the years will dare explain the colour of enchanted rain or sweetness in the sugar cane, you'll know I'm only dreaming". by pauljacobson Dec 15

I'd like to hear more about that roaming Australia story, have you written it up anywhere? by dcoda Dec 15

Tribe sounds good. I roamed as a warrior around Australia for 7 years (even with women and children) seeking peace far removed from colonial society. It was a time of great happiness that ended in agony (but all of us survived to lick our wounds and keep going). These days, education reform is an important issue for me. by pauljacobson Dec 14

that's a good one. I'm curating with a knowledge management team called Open Intelligence and have thousands of amazing sites/articles ...pearltrees, as a newer tool, holds but a small sample. It will grow, as trees do! Hypergogue belongs to Simon Bostok, one of our associates...we've a loose-knit tribe forming around Om4X & Open Intelligence that feeds a constant stream of thought provoking material our way. by dcoda Dec 13

I've picked your Hypergogue pearl for reference in my Moodle. There's a lot of stuff packed into your site. by pauljacobson Dec 13
