Basically, what this does, is to allow you to create your board designs with the AKU Shaper which generates a.brd file. The problem has always been (I have been asked several times how to do this) how to change the .brd file into a file that can be printed, manipulated and viewed externally. Well, The answer is here, the Hollow Board Template Maker . JedAil created a Java program which you open, from there open the .brd file, this then allows you to put in various board build specs. One of the largest tool distributors in SD (Tool Depot) told me that the PS20 was tagged as discontinued in their system. All local Lowes stores told me that they were special order. Other sources also said "special order" and the price varied $50. I finally called Hitachi USA and they wouldn't give me a direct answer on whether or not this model is discontinued. Putting together all the info, it looks like there is inventory at Hitachi USA, but nobody wants to stock them.
My intent was to not only make these kits, but also offer fully modified planers (at a lower price than the Clark model). Another two-part "not a Bisect (tm)" travel compsand. Ok, I'm totally remiss in not having documented this build...
But it's similar enough to my other projects (and simple enough) that I can probably describe it. Here's what I started with. I've been riding it for a couple of years, it's held up really well, so I thought it would be a good candidate for to be a bisect-ual spec board. Started with some proboxes, used a forstner bit to cut 7/8" holes into it, then trimmed the end of the bolt from a "Titejoint" setup to make it short enough to fit: Implanted those into the board probox style, then sliced the whole thing in half (no photos).
