With close to a decade of experience in web design, I have come across plenty of mistaken beliefs about the latest design tools and technologies; but nothing beats the misconceptions surrounding the use of HTML 5. As developers, we have our own set of misguided beliefs about a certain technology, but as we begin to use that technology we are able to understand what it is all about, its usage, and its scope. Inspired by certain HTML5 requirements that I have come across through the course of time, I wanted to add my two cents to clear the air on certain aspects of HTML5. Most of the misconceptions surrounding HTML5 are because many people think it’s a replacement for Flash. At the outset, I would like to make it clear that this is not an HTML5 vs. Flash post.
It's that time for a Gallery Conference again, and this year we're trying something new. You're invited! If you can write code, documentation, design UIs, or provide support, you and your laptop are welcome to join us in Atlanta April 22nd and 23nd to get some work done. April 22nd - Focused "workshops" on all things Gallery. We'll get a schedule posted, but expect hour or two long hacking sessions on everything from the remote API to theming to documentation.
The layouts on this website have location #'s for easy reference. As you search through the web layouts for design ideas, simply write down the location #'s of the layouts that appeal to your project the most. If there is an element in a web layout that you like, such as an arrangement of buttons, a side panel, or a header, then simply note the location # for later reference. There are thousands of custom designed layouts waiting to be discovered with this approach. You can also copy the layouts exactly as is. The choice is up to you!
What makes a logo really pop?
Making brushes is an important part of the chopping process for me, and it is an art all on its own you should master. Over the time I went from making normal little quick brushes to some rather intense and advanced ones, so I thought I would share some of this info with you guys and gals here. Whether this is your first time creating a GIF animation or not, this tutorial will be able to help you with the concept and technique of how to create them. In this first theorical part of this four part shadow tutorial, shadows will be explained using 3D software. The analysis of the shadows will prepare you for part two. This tutorial demonstrates an effect that gets so photorealistic it led to some cheating controversies in the past.

0 diggs digg Whether you design web sites for a living, put together product brochures, or just maintain a blog, you’re likely to find yourself wanting to incorporate pictures as part of your web work. Unless you’re a photographer, this means finding images from other people – and most critically, finding images that you can legally use. Just finding an image you like on the web and downloading it is a recipe for disaster (or at least lawbreaking).
