Spiced Apple Cider Recipe

What's fun about this recipe, other than the fact you need very few ingredients and that it's super easy to make, is that you can make this a cocktail or leave the alcohol out. Either way it's wonderful! Needed: 4-5 cups apple juice, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 3 ounces spiced rum (optional), cinnamon sticks and apple slices to garnish. In a small pot heat the apple juice, spices and rum (if using) over low/medium heat.

Stir often while the mixture is heating so the spices will blend into the juice (you don't want any spice clumps). Spiced Apple Cider, makes 2 servings. Salpicón. Salpicón is a fresh homemade Colombian fruit beverage.

It's served cold and loaded with chopped fruit such as watermelon, papaya, strawberries, pineapple, oranges, apples, bananas and carbonated soda. Serve it with a spoon to eat the fruit then drink the juice when the fruit is all gone. Thirst quenching on a hot summer day and perfect as an afternoon snack or dessert. It's been years since I walk the busy cobblestone streets of Colombia filled with street vendors in the center of town. A tropical country with a warm climate and an abundance of fresh fruit year round. This makes a large amount and would fill a large punch bowl; great for back yard parties. As for the fruit, watermelon and fresh pineapple is a must as it gives you lots of juice; you could substitute whatever fruit is in season near you. Ingredients: Dice all fruit to equal size 1/2 inch pieces. Frankly Entertaining. How’s this for orange and healthy?!

Or, maybe the fact that it looks like a pumpkin might clue them in to the fact that there are some healthy things involved! This recipe comes from last month’s Better Homes and Gardens magazine.

This was the issue with Michelle Obama on the cover. Ingredients: 1 lb.
