Make: Cup Flowers

They are super easy to make. To inject some magic into any room or dinner party, make a dozen or so, drill holes in the center of each, and attach them to a short string of Christmas lights. Hang them from your ceiling, or lay them out down the length of your dining area- à la whimsical floral table-runner. This project is fun for little ones, too. I made hundreds of these at work with kindergarten, first, and second graders. Materials: Plastic and/or paper cups of assorted sizes (party stores typically have the best selection of sizes, including tiny cups for condiments that work well as flower centers), sharp scissors, strong double-sided tape or heavy-duty glue, drill & Christmas lights (optional), LED lights (optional), paint (optional).

Directions1. T-Shirt Coloring Party. I love what my friend Katherine did for her daughter’s birthday party recently!

T-Shirt Coloring Party

She used the free download by Stephanie Corfee to have a tank top coloring station. All the girls made their own designs. (Stephanie also made an image for the boys too (or girls that are fans of sharks).) Her daughter in the photo above is wearing a purple Cascading Ruffle Skirt too… can get the free download for the skirt here. Check out all of our free downloads here! Super Dad! Styled Father's Day Luncheon. DIY Striped Neon Spoons « My so called crafty life.

This weekend, I was at the store and happened upon a set of wooden spoons for under a dollar, and immediately knew I needed to take them home and paint them.

DIY Striped Neon Spoons « My so called crafty life

I love the dip painted spoons i’ve seen on Pinterest, and have been wanting to try a striped version myself. Even though I’m not big on trends, I picked up some neon paint just to try, and I have to say that I think the vivid colors give the spoons a tropical feel. These would be fantastic in solid stripes as well, or my favorite combination of red and aqua! These would make a great cheap hostess gift to take to your next barbecue or picnic, or could be great in a kitchen themed basket gift for a newlywed couple.

Here’s what you need: *Wooden Spoons *Paint *Masking or Painters Tape. Kids’ Hot Air Balloon Photobooth DIY. May 31 by Chiara Alberetti Milott My friend Kate recently celebrated her daughter Scarlet’s 1st birthday.

Kids’ Hot Air Balloon Photobooth DIY

We wanted to do a photobooth especially for kids – and she came up with this cute hot air balloon idea. After gathering supplies, we sort of winged-it and with the help of Kate’s Dad, we managed to fashion a sweet little hot air balloon for the kids to “ride in.” Washington D.C. BLAST OFF! Rocket Party!

It’s time for a birthday space adventure! This rocket-themed party Katie from Sweet Rose Studio put together for her son, Luke, would be awesome for all the little aspiring astronauts out there! Not only is it a fun and original theme, the party was almost entirely DIY with TONS of fun decorations, activities, and a photo booth! Pirate Party Bash!

I have a total love of all things PIRATE. Hook + Peter Pan were my favorite movies growing up – for the pirates of course! I truly think boys + girls alike can have a blast at a pirate party! Throw in pops of pink + purple for the girls or go all out for the boys like Katie Cogbill of Kayden Ashley did for her two boys, Aidan and Kai! Both boys’ birthdays are within 3 days of each other, so Katie doubled the fun and threw a joint 4th and 2nd birthday pirate bash! Katie used classic pirate colors of red and black, with hints of aqua for the pirate ship invitations and carried the color scheme throughout the party. Making sure to include lots of Kayden Ashley touches, Katie personalized water bottle labels, popcorn cones and appropriately-named food tags like “Captain Cogbill’s Catch O’ the Day” (Goldfish crackers)!

I know one thing – our little guy has lots of people who love and will spoil him. Case in point – another fun baby shower last weekend. It was thrown by my beautiful friends Emily and Shelly and it was a book and library theme. The invites were just too adorable. Shelly got them on Etsy and they looked like library cards. They may very well be my favorite invites ever. When I arrived, the room was just too perfect. Emily decorated the tables with kraft paper-covered books, children’s book tale runners and little terra cotta pots. Fiesta Friday - Fiesta! Fiesta! 2012.

When you have a blog, and you post instructions about how to make or cook something that you have dreamed up, you want all of the mistakes to happen to you. You want to be the one to discover the holes in the theories, the lapses in the instructions or the possible interpretations that will end up in failure.

Lucky for me, and for any who attempt to make these, those failures bestowed themselves upon me during this craft project. Inspired By Family Magazine. Contributing Writer: Mari Hernandez-Tuten.
