A man has used YouTube to confess to killing a driver, paving the way for authorities to indict him. Drunk driver Matthew Cordle, 22, has posted the emotional and hard-hitting video two-and-a-half months after crashing into a 61-year-old navy veteran. Cordle had drifted onto the other side of the road following a pub crawl in Ohio on June 22 earlier this year. He ploughed into and killed Vincent Canzani, who was in his jeep, but despite being a suspect in the crime he was never formally charged and said he had been told by ‘high-powered lawyers’ that they believed he could escape conviction.

However, Cordle said he decided to confess in order to accept responsibility for his actions and to also warn others of the dangers of drink-driving. The video begins with Cordle’s pixelated face as he says: ‘I killed a man.’ His voice is also altered as he describes the fateful night in which he and some friends were drinking heavily. ‘I decided to drive home. ‘He was a real well-liked guy.
