Could 'Dexter' end with season 8? Serial killer drama “Dexter” has been renewed for two more seasons, but that could be all fans will get out of the series. Showtime president David Nevins has told Entertainment Weekly that while this could change, "everybody is operating under [the] assumption" that seasons 7 and 8 will constitute the end of “Dexter.” Additionally, a storyline is already being crafted to be carried out during those next two seasons. "There’s things that are going to happen [this season] that will set up a very clear endgame that will take two seasons to tell," Nevins told EW on Thursday. “Coming back for two more years gives us clarity about how and when it will go out,” the TV exec explained.

Nevins developed and produced the hit show “Friday Night Lights,” and said that a similar timeline helped end the series successfully. “Having that definitiveness always helps,” he noted. Michael C. There are a ton of new faces on the upcoming season of Dexter – which premieres Sunday, Oct. 2 — and if you’ve have trouble keeping track, this new extended behind the scenes promo lays them out quite nicely if you ask me.

Among the newbies? Brother Sam, played by Mos (now sans “Def”) is a victim-turned-unexpected ally of Dexter’s. Professor Gellar (Edward James Olmos) is the creepy mentor of Travis (Colin Hanks), who seemingly has succeeded in passing on Gellar’s warped ways. Jamie Batista (Aimee Garcia) is the new nanny and Angel’s (too-hot-to-be-related-in-real-life) sister. Take a look below. Michael C. Hall aka 'Dexter' Late Night w/Jimmy Fallon [12/7/10] 'Dexter' Watch: Annoyed by the Season Finale? ShowtimeMichael C. Hall in the “Dexter” season finale. The reaction to the season finale of “Dexter” on Sunday night is surely divided into distinct camps: people who were annoyed and people who hated it.

I fall into the first camp. The season was incredibly strong in my mind, and “Dexter” certainly remains one of the best shows on television, but the final hour has left me padding about the house exasperated. First, can someone explain how it was possible for Deb to so quickly figure out about the camp where Jordan took Lumen hostage? Deb meets the non-English-speaking fruit vendor, who tips her off to the harrowing prisoner-in-the-back sounds coming from Jordan’s car. I’d hoped that the finale would have offered a little more about Jordan’s transition into a psychopath. My major beef, though, was in Deb’s discovery/nondiscovery. One thing that is certain now about next season: We won’t be seeing Lumen. So what happens next year?

Dexter Everything Is IlLumenated. Yeah, it's spelled right, ilLumenated as in Lumen is changing the dynamics of Dexter this season. Not in a bad way though. Dexter packed up his old house, he will have to disclose to the new buyer that someone was murdered in this house. Deb offered Dexter his old apt. back, she will move out, probably to Quinn's house. Dexter had found his next serial killer, a man named Lance Robinson who likes to lure other men for sex then kill them.

Dexter gives Lance the magical shot which knocks him out, as he is wrapping Lance up in saran wrap his cellphone rings, he see's it's Lumen calling but does not answer, it rings two more times, he still does not answer, he's a bit busy right now. Lumen is waiting outside the warehouse as Dexter pulls up. Lumen is screaming at the man wanting to know where she can find all the other men that raped her, they are all incahoots with each other, he tells Dexter that he has never seen Lumen before, that she is crazy.

Dexter went back to his old house. Julia Stiles Joins Showtime's 'Dexter' | Fancast News. SHOWTIME® Launches 'DEXTER GAME ON' at Comic-Con -- NEW YORK, July 15. Showtime Dexter Californication Exhibit. Ever wonder where Hank Moody might conduct his late night (and for that matter, early morning, midday and afternoon) sexcapades if he were flesh and blood, not just a TV character? Speaking of flesh and blood: Where might blood splatter specialist Dexter Morgan mix up a cocktail and kick back after a hard night of solo serial killing?

And the subject of serial killers naturally segues into Henry VIII -- where might the King of England have dined after beheading his wife du jour? Rhetorical questions, these are not. A group of interior designers and architects actually sought to answer them when Showtime and Metropolitan Home magazine posed the challenge of turning the indoor and outdoor spaces of a 14,000-square-foot New York City penthouse into homage's to Showtime's hit series, including "Californication," "Dexter," "The Tudors" (all of which begin new seasons this Sunday, Sept. 27) as well as "Nurse Jackie," "Weeds" and "The United States of Tara.

By Nancy Mills, Special for USA TODAY LOS ANGELES — Love him? Kill him? Be his nanny? Just what is Julia Stiles playing on the fifth season of Dexter, which is back on Showtime (Sundays, 9 p.m. ET/PT)? As a preteen, Stiles, 29, cut her teeth on experimental theater in New York. Then she worked opposite stars such as Heath Ledger (10 Things I Hate About You), Alec Baldwin (State and Main) and Matt Damon (all three Bourne movies).

So handling Dexter, the serial killer who masquerades as a blood-spatter-pattern expert for the Miami Metro Police Department while hunting down other serial killers, should pose no problems. "My character, Lumen, unexpectedly comes into Dexter's life," Stiles says cryptically. One thing is clear: She's not a replacement for Rita (Dexter's wife, who was found dead in a bathtub at the end of last season). "They've said they're not doing a big, bad killer again," Stiles insists. Stiles is sitting in her dressing room at Sunset-Gower Studios in Hollywood. Michael C. When "Dexter" first hit the airwaves in 2006, no one quite knew to make of the show about a forensics expert by day who is a serial murderer by night. Now in its fifth season "Dexter" is one of the most talked about programs on TV, racking up critical acclaim and "killer" ratings. Michael C. Hall plays "Dexter," after losing his wife is now "dying" to get back in the killing game. "In spite of everything that has happened, Dexter continues to indulge in his killing," Hall told "Early Show" co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez.

But is there a hint of weakness in him this time around? "I think what happens at the end of the fourth season, everything he's built for himself has been sort of dismantled and shattered and, I think he's struggling with a sense of responsibility for what he's lost, for his wife's death, and he has a feeling of guilt that he never anticipated having," Hall explained. "It is amazing. How do you entice these big actors to come on the show? "I don't know. "I am. Dexter (TV Series 2006–

Hall and Jennifer Carpenter. The couple have announced that they've split up. "Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce," their reps tell CNN in a joint statement. Carpenter, 31, wed Hall, 39, on December 31, 2008, and stood by him as he battled Hodgkin's lymphoma this year.

"The triumph of a man, to have gone through something like that and not even give the crew any suspicions that he was in any sort of need, it's impressive," she told the New York Times in September. Access Hollywood reports that Carpenter attended Sunday night's season 5 finale party alone and often talked about their troubles on the set of the hit Showtime series. Now their co-stars are worried about how the actors – who play brother and sister – will get along when they start shooting the upcoming sixth season. Stay tuned.
