As with the previous 2 blocks, this is a block made from half square triangles. Select your colours and cut the following: 6 squares at 5¼” and 6 squares at 4⅞” If you would like the outside edges to be one colour then you will need to cut 2 of each size using your background colour and then 1 of each size square for the inner colours.

All these squares then need cut in half diagonally so you have 24 triangles. At this point it is best to arrange the triangles in the order you want them. Select your colours and cut the following 2 squares at 7 ¼” which will be the large quarter triangles and 4 squares 3⅞” which will be the small half square triangles. The next step is to sew 2 of the small half triangles (along the longest side) to the larger quarter triangles (along the short sides) lining up along the bottom edge as shown in the photo, don’t worry about it sticking out at the top as that will form part of your seam allowance later. Up until now we have been looking at squares and rectangles so time for something new with triangles. You then need to sew 2 of the quarter triangles together (short sides) to make a half square triangle. You can then arrange the squares in whichever formation you like. As this block is made from several pieces it is an idea to plan your colour scheme before you start and then cut the fabric according to the template.
