Les homosexuels ont toujours eu des enfants, avec une personne d'un autre sexe, sans avoir besoin de se définir comme "homoparents". Le mot-valise "homoparentalité" a été forgé pour instaurer le principe d'un couple parental homosexuel et promouvoir la possibilité juridique de donner à un enfant "deux parents du même sexe".
Or c'est bien l'institution d'un couple parental homosexuel qui fait question, dans la mesure où il abolirait la distinction homme/ femme au profit de la distinction entre homosexuels et hétérosexuels. Cette dernière division est-elle en l'occurrence pertinente ? On semble ne pas remarquer que la revendication du "mariage homosexuel" ou de l'"homoparentalité" n'a pu se formuler qu'à partir de la construction ou de la fiction de sujets de droit qui n'ont jamais existé : les "hétérosexuels". Last week, Entertainment Weekly ran a story on an emerging trend: gay people in public life who come out in a much more restrained and matter-of-fact way than in the past. In many ways, it’s a great development: we’re evolved enough not to be gob-smacked when we find out someone’s gay.
But it does matter nonetheless, it seems to me, that this is on the record. We still have pastors calling for the death of gay people, bullying incidents and suicides among gay kids, and one major political party dedicated to ending the basic civil right to marry the person you love. So these “non-events” are still also events of a kind; and they matter. All of which is a prelude to my saying that I’ve known Anderson Cooper as a friend for more than two decades.
