Reverse Applique: a tutorial. This is a really fun, simple project. Yet another way to fancy up some plain tees or a great fix for old shirts with holes. It takes a little practice to master sewing a curved design like this one. I'm definitely not there yet but, I was pretty impressed with myself this time around. If you're unsure of your sewing skills try finding a design with straight lines i.e. a cross or monogram of your initial. Materials: Fabric Fusible Interfacing (one side) T-shirt(s) Stencils (optional) Tutorial: For this project, you can choose to draw your own design or use a stencil. Draw your design backwards onto the non-fusible side of a piece of interfacing. Fuse the design onto the wrong side of your fabric. Turn your tee inside out. Carefully sew over the marked line. Tie and cut off loose strings. Cut off the extra material around your design.

Make a snip through the knit at the center of the design and cut off all the extra fabric on the inside of your stitches. Here's one I did using my own drawing: Shoe Makeover. I love the simple, carefree style of laceless tennis shoes, especially in the summer. They're the best shoes to slip on before running errands, shopping, being outside, or really anything. I've been drooling over these Keds for a while now... However $50 for one pair of shoes really isn't in my budget. So when I saw plain white Keds knock offs at Walmart for only $5 , I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

Materials Needed: Plain White or Off White Tennis Shoes (Walmart has them for $5 and Target has them for $9)RIT or other brand Fabric Dye1.5 " wide ElasticStrong Needle and Thread (in coordinating color) Although I love the muted colors that Keds sells. First take out the laces In a large pot Boil your water. Rinse your shoes off in the sink with hot water When your water is boiling, turn it down to more of a simmer and add your dye. Let them sit, stirring them around every once in a while, for about 10 minutes or until they reach your desired shade. Here's how mine looked once dry: Shoes- $5.

Birds On A Wire Art. Thrifting this weekend, I came across these big bins full of old picture frames. With prices as low as $1 each, I couldn't help myself and I picked out three lovely frames. A little paint can make such a huge difference. I've learned that virtually anything can be spray painted. However they had a pretty limited selection of spray paint at the Hobb Lobb so I found some pretty acrylics. For this project I also used a glaze medium and just a little bit of black paint. Start by painting your frames. While the paint is drying you can work on your artwork. I used a dictionary for this craft but you could also use a large book. You can find super cheap books at thrift stores. I just happened to have this one laying around the house.

I experimented with some other variations as well. I used a glazing technique to give a couple of my frames an interesting look. Mix some of your glaze with a smidgen of black paint. And paint all over the frame. Wipe off with a rag and you'll have something like this: Simple Bow Tie Top. I'm so happy about how this turned out. This is one of those projects that's been on my to do list forever and now that I finally got it done, I wish I had done it a long time ago. This is such a simple project. One of the easiest I've ever made.

Don't have much sewing experience? Give this a go, I promise it's a piece of cake and any mistakes made are hardly noticeable because of the gather. You can make this project even easier by purchasing ribbon rather than sewing your own sash. Materials: 5/6 + yard knit & 1/3 yard silk, cotton, etc. My knit is 60" wide and my dusty pink silk (faux) is 45" wide. Your fabric doesn't have to be exactly as wide as mine, just keep in mind that if you buy a fabric that is less wide you may need to purchase more to compensate. Cut two large squares to the dimensions of 30" x 30" If you bought 5/6 yd of 60" fabric all you have to do is cut along the fold line.

**Edit- 30" length gives you a long top. Make a casing at the top of each square. Pin along sides. Make Your Own Birdie Fringe Purse. I love statement pieces, especially accessories! I created this pretty bird fringe purse because I wanted something special to wear this Autumn. This pretty project only took me about two hours to create. I hope you enjoy it... This little birdie is my vintage inspiration. I thrifted him a couple years ago and he inspired me to make a larger bag with a similar shape. I added a few personal touches, of course, like 70s style fringe and lace. Here's how I made mine.... Step 1: Draft a quick pattern on paper for your bird shape. I made a strap with two long strips of leather, lots of punches and yarn.

A few thoughts about working with leather: I have been working with leather (and faux leather) for many years. I hope you've enjoyed my little bird purse D.I.Y. Triple Max Tons: Easy Holiday Hair - StumbleUpon.
