Motorbike Tours Routes Summaries. The goal of this trip is to pack in as much fun and adventure that 11 days of adventure motorcycling allows in the South African Cape, keeping the balance between a holiday and maximising adventure riding, avoiding cities and traffic. The ride traverses 40 passes! Of the 3500 km 50% will be on gravel. We ease into the ride by riding to the Atlantic Ocean staying at Paternoster. Then on into the Cederberg and over the mountains into the Tankwa Karoo for a night. From there a lot of dirt down to the coast at the Wilderness. From the sea, inland to more passes and some really exciting adventure riding testing yourself through the Baviaanskloof nature reserve back down to the seaside where we are based for two days. From here we head out for a days game viewing to see all the big five and many more animal species, then back to relax again.

With revived energy we are off though South Africa's longest pass and other gravel roads to Calitzdorp where we again base ourselves to two days. Ten destinations to add to your Cape Town tours. Here you can enjoy breath-taking views of Table Mountain, Table Bay and Robben Island. The cellar is modern and, taking its cue from the Castle of Good Hope, a triangular lookout named the 'Bastion' ploughs forward like the prow of a ship into the vineyards below, a theme repeated on the smaller wooden deck linking the tasting area to the Renosterveld garden.

The relaxed indoor and outdoor areas of the cellar offer artisan cheeses, breads and meats, biltong or chocolate wine pairing, or breakfast, lunch and dinner in the newly refurbished restaurant. Social Marketing Through Travel Planning: Cape Town Tourism and Ogilvy and Mather Digital #ETAS13. News24Travel : Digital is an essential part... Why Cape Town is the world’s most fabulous city. Yes, I am Capetonian and yes that makes me bias, but in my defence I’ve been lucky to visit six continents and have a reasonable size pool of cities to compare it with.

Whilst we may have crime and a largely corrupt government (like so many parts of the world), the beauty of our city is unparalleled along with our vibrant, talented inhabitants and every tasty food imaginable. I challenge anyone to visit Cape Town and not fall completely in love with this cosmopolitan peninsula at the tip of Africa. Here’s why I think it’s the greatest… Our people I’ve experienced that locals can either make a break a destination for those visiting. Beautiful Capetonians.

A man on stilts at a open-air concert in Town. A young boy at a soccer match. Just a small part of my wonderful, loud and vibrant family. It’s indescribable natural beauty. I’ve seen some beautiful cities in my 28 years, some with great forests, show-stopping mountains or dreamy beaches. Kalk Bay Harbour. Simonstown. Food, glorious food. A glimpse of Cape Town Diamond Museum. Did you know there was a diamond museum at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town? Neither did I. Curiosity drove me to check it out and I've discovered the history behind these valuable stones.

Here's what I found... The museum is housed at the Clock Tower precinct and pays tribute to the world’s oldest precious stone, the diamond, initially formed more than three billion years ago. Frequented mostly by foreigners, I'd advise locals to make the effort to check it out as it takes you on a sparkling journey. Take for instance the following little diamond facts in the rough: - The first diamond discovery in South Africa happened between December and February 1867 when a 15-year-old Erasmus Jacobs found a translucent stone along the bank of Orange River on his father’s farm - Kimberley, the town in the Northern Cape, was at the centre of South Africa's diamond boom. - The discovery of this stone sparked the ‘diamond rush’ earning South Africa the title as the largest producer of these stones. .

Finding Joy in an Unlikely Place - Exploring South Africa’s Cape Peninsula. There are some places on this great planet that just resonate with our souls on a very base, almost instinctual level. There’s no rhyme or reason to this metaphysical travel experience, it can happen anywhere at anytime to anyone. I’ve been fortunate enough to feel that special surge of electricity run through my body a few times, but most recently it happened on a trip to South Africa’s Cape Peninsula near Cape Town. Hugging the coastline, passing through small fishing communities and villages that had been commandeered by retirees instead of sailors, our van never strayed far from Table Mountain National Park.

The look and feel of it though definitely changed and as we drove through the Cape of Good Hope entrance to the park, I wondered into which world we had slipped. A vast plain stretched out as far as the eye could see, mottled with rocks and a small, dense gorse-like shrub I later learned was something called fynbos. Of course the Cape is anything but hopeful. Posted on: Tuesday, 11 June 2013 Cape Town, on the very tip of the African continent, whilst not the Singapore of the European / Asian flight path by any stretch of the imagination, is nonetheless conveniently placed to act as a stopover point for long-haul flights.

Already there are tourists who fly into Cape Town en route to Johannesburg. And it will only need a gentle nudge – now that fuel-efficient long-distance aircraft like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the Airbus A380 are in the air – to convince airlines to take advantage of everything the city has to offer. Layovers can be gruelling, frustrating and typically exhausting. But with an overnight, and 10 Hours in Cape Town, there is a lot to do to take the edge off the wait. On a Sunday morning not too long ago I threw my wetsuit into the boot, borrowed some snorkelling gear from my neighbour and went looking to spend the next two hours in peace.

I turned off on the Simons Town main road and snaked my way down the coast, finally turned off at Millers Point and made my way over the hill and down to the tidal pool. There was not another living soul close by- I had the pool all to myself. My immediate thought was that I wouldn’t see too much, ocean meditation was more important than the sea life below. But the ocean was happy to comply and provided me with some jaw dropping sights and great visibility. It’s a stunning way to spend a weekend morning. Muizenberg. Holiday-makers' paradise This laid-back seaside town on the shores of False Bay comes alive in season, with holiday-makers crowding its streets as they make their way down to what is perhaps Cape Town’s nicest swimming beach. Although Muizenberg beach lacks the dazzling turquoise ocean and dramatic boulders of beaches like Clifton and Llandudno, it is much warmer to swim here than at the beaches on the Atlantic Seaboard.

It is flat, wide, and the water is generally calm – so is very child-friendly. It’s also a popular surfing spot, although the waves aren’t enormous. It is ideal for long boarding and novices. things to do in muizenberg Muizenberg is the ideal beach to learn to surf There are a variety of surf and adventure operators, restaurants, coffee shops and apartments located along the main beach. Look out for the brightly coloured Victorian beach houses, a visual echo of a time when this was Cape Town’s premier swimming beach, and which always provide a good photo opportunity. Tips on tipping in Cape Town. Photo © Cape Town Tourism Tipping can be a bit of a grey area when you’re travelling. Who do you tip? When? And how much is acceptable? So here are some guidelines to help you navigate the tipping situation when you're in Cape Town: Eating out: When dining out, it is generally acceptable to tip approximately 10% of the bill total, in relation to the level of service received. Some restaurants will include a service fee for large tables (usually eight or more guests). Parking attendants and taxi drivers: Car guards are a common sight in Cape Town and South Africa in general. When making use of the metered parking spaces in the city centre, you’ll most likely be approached by a parking marshal in a luminous bib who’ll ask you how long you intend to stay.

When taking a metered taxi, tipping is entirely optional. Hotel staff: Tipping hotel staff can be done directly to the staff at your discretion, or as a general staff tip when you check out. At the spa or beauty salon: Tour guides and drivers: My city - Cape Town. 21/12/2012 – 21 things to do in Cape Town before the world ends.
