The New Breed of Documentary Photographers
Chongqing, China 2007 Daniele Mattioli (b.1964, Italy) is a self taught photographer who began his career in Asia and Australia where he was based for five years. Since 2000 he began focusing on China and has since relocated to Shanghai for the past seven years. He is represented by the Anzenberger Agency and his reportage on Chongqing was featured in the book East edited in 2008. His photos from Shanghai were included in Inside China produced by the National Geographic and in Shanghai: a History in Photographs, 1842 – Today published by Penguin.
Walker Evans, Coca-Cola shack in Alabama , 1935 La scorsa settimana il Teatro Coppola di Catania ha invitato me e Alessandro Imbriaco a tenere un workshop di fotografia durante il quale, tra le altre cose, ho parlato di fotografia documentaria e delle diverse declinazioni del linguaggio fotografico che oggi coesistono sotto questo termine. Per l'occasione ho chiesto a diversi fotografi di dare una loro propria definizione di fotografia documentaria: riporto anche qui le loro riflessioni, ringraziandoli per aver trovato il tempo di rispondermi nell'arco di pochi giorni.

Castellaneta, Basilicata, 2010 On the 3rd of September in Castelmezzano, Italy, opened Outer edges of some buried age . An exhibition curated by Chiara Capodici and Fiorenza Pinna featuring the work of photographer Domingo Milella . The exhibition takes place at Palazzo Coiro, an old aristocratic palace in the centre of the village, and it is visible only by daylight.

Brad Dececco / Nevada Brothels Il s’agit du travail de Brad Dececco et de sa série Nevada Brothels , série dans laquelle il nous présente l’environnement de travail qu’est celui des prostitués du Nevada. Un milieu un peu étrange, qui nous semble moins « trash » que celui des pays pauvres, plus kitchs (vous constaterez par vous même) , mais qui est tout aussi troublant.
