W.18-1993 The Furniture, Textiles and Fashion Department was formed in 2001 by the amalgamation of two former curatorial departments of Furniture & Woodwork and Textiles & Dress.
The department collects, displays and provides information on objects in its care. It is responsible for the care and wellbeing of every object entrusted to that department together with the assistance of the Collections Services Department. The department lends to temporary exhibitions, both in the UK and worldwide, as well as providing long-term loans to other museums and national institutions within the UK. Furniture The Furniture collection consists of more than 14,000 pieces from Britain, Europe and America, dating from the Middle Ages to the present day. ABEGG-STIFTUNG. ABEGG-STIFTUNG. Textilsammlung der Abegg-Stiftung Band 6 Mittelalterliche Textilien III. Stickerei bis um 1500 und figürlich gewebte Borten Evelin Wetter Gestickte und gewebte Bilder auf Altarbehängen und auf der Kleidung von Geistlichen prägten das Aussehen des mittelalterlichen Kirchenraumes. Mit ihren Bild- programmen nahmen sie auf die verschiedenen Feste im Verlauf des Kirchenjahres Bezug. Aus den kostbaren Materialien Seide, Silber und Gold gefertigt, waren sie Teil des Kirchenschatzes. Teil der bedeutenden Sammlung mittelalterlicher Textilkunst der Abegg-Stiftung sind Stickereien und figürlich gewebte Borten.

Robe de mariée en shantung ivoire avec broderie érudite en fil métallique doré, torsadé, sur âme de soie et paillettes nacrées formant des motifs floraux Don de Madame Sonsoles Díez de Rivera y de Icaza. Robe à encolure ronde, corsage près du corps et manches japonaises. Jupe, s’ouvrant comme une cloche, plus courte devant que dans le dos, et se prolonge formant une petite traîne. Fermeture à glissière et agrafe au milieu du dos. Robe de mariée réalisée en Espagne pour la fille de la marquise de Llanzol, Sonsoles Díez de Rivera y de Icaza.
