El maestro Cruz Diez nos cuenta que fue un joven privilegiado porque sus padres lo apoyaron cuando a los 17 años les confesó que quería dedicarse al arte. Pasó otros tantos años formándose en el oficio, leyendo, entendiendo los diferentes movimientos artísticos de la época y aprendiendo técnicas, pero no fue hasta cumplido ese tiempo que entonces entendió que el arte no era simplemente pintar o dibujar bien, sino que se trataba de inventar, de crear un concepto único para elaborar en torno a esa idea. Cruz Diez tiene un hablar pausado y amoroso, cada reflexión que dispara en la conversación produce admiración en quienes lo escuchamos.
