Cassi’s a hand sewing expert… Just look through this beautiful gallery of her work! We asked Cassi to share some of her stitch expertise with us and she came up with this wonderful Pocket Stitch Book. Cassi writes, “I picked ones that are basic yet can be a little tricky to remember if you don’t stitch often; there are outlining stitches, decorative stitches and filling stitches.” She created the book with both beginner and experienced stitchers in mind, and she plans to add color to her book with some colored pencils. Miriam Badyrka is The Doodler

Long ago, there were 10 suns. Each day, the sky goddess would choose one to drive across the sky in her chariot. The other nine suns would play all day. One day, all the suns decided to go up together and the heat of all of them together was so strong that it caused a terrible drought. A great archer was given 10 magical arrows to shoot them out of the sky. St+Patricks+Day++Cross+stitch+pattern+from+Lynn+B+at+happinessiscrossstitching.blogspot.com.

Ombre Embroidery Sampler Tutorial

Whether it’s on a dress, or on a wall, I just love the effect. And for a while now I’ve been mulling over the idea of creating an ombre embroidery sampler. (I should add here that WordPress wants me to correct “ombre” to “hombre”. I think that would be a very different piece of embroidery.) What’s great about this piece is that you could achieve very different effects by changing the thread colours, or even the background fabric. If you’d like to make a sampler of your own, here’s what you need: SuppliesA piece of natural cotton-linen blend fabric, at least 20x25cm (8×10″) 15cm (6″) embroidery hoop Size 4 or 6 embroidery/crewel needle Sharp embroidery scissors Water-soluble fabric markerLine Placement guideStranded embroidery thread in five shades (unfortunately I’ve misplaced my threads, so I’m not sure exactly which colours I used – but just pick five shades that form a nice colour run).

Print out the line placement guide. At this point you have a choice. Like this: Original colourful embroidery patterns and more! Sliekje's cute Stuff. Sliekje digi Stamps. &Stitches. Patterns. Blackwork Embroidery by Teresa Stephenson. Star-Shaped and Shiny: An Embroidered Notebook. One of the most difficult parts of crafting is finding fresh ways to use old techniques.

Star-Shaped and Shiny: An Embroidered Notebook

Many needlecraft companies are experiencing a surge in sales of kits for cushions, tea cosies and other three-dimensional items, and a cursory glance at any craft magazine will attest to the trend. But what happens when you want a small project, something quick to stitch, maybe to give as a gift? Well, you could try stitching a notebook. A small cross-stitch motif or simple blackwork pattern can turn an ordinary Moleskine journal into a work of art worthy to hold all your crafty ideas and sketches. The best part? Once you’ve got your notebook, you’ll need a piece of squared paper or graph paper to use as a grid. Next, take a sharp pin and pierce where the lines on the paper intersect. Once you’ve pierced your holes, you can stitch your design as normal.

Lastly, stitch your border around the outside if desired and cover the back of your stitching. T26362 - Cross Stitch, Needlepoint, Stitchery, and Embroidery Kits, Projects, and Needlecraft Tools. Hungarian Redwork Runner Project Index.
