CREATION 2013 A new piece is currently being prepared for spring 2013. The première is scheduled to take place at the Théâtre National in Brussels, ahead of the French première at the Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris. The challenge of this new production is to study the overlap between the filmed image and choreography, as well as deepening the links between performing arts, choreography and cinema.

Creation The four performers are four choreographic entities that spread out, confront each other, grow and intertwine in an abstract environment, a sort of refuge for a disoriented humanity. Like instruments in a string quartet, each has his own frequency, his own range. It is from this structural rigour, listening to and in contact with the other, that will be born the most basic human behaviours: desire, conquest, violence and seduction. The universal becomes intimate, the timeless, ephemeral : the abstract simply human.

Chorégraphe et directeur artistique du Ballet Preljocaj - Centre Chorégraphique National, Angelin Preljocaj vit et travaille à Aix-en-Provence depuis 1996 . Né en 1957 , de parents albanais émigrés en région parisienne, il étudie d’abord la danse classique, puis aborde la danse contemporaine avec Karin Waehner à la Schola Cantorum. Après un séjour à New York, où il suit les cours de Merce Cunningham (1980) , il entre dans la compagnie de Quentin Rouillier à Caen, puis travaille au Centre National de Danse Contemporaine d’Angers, alors dirigé par Viola Farber. En 1982 , il est engagé comme danseur par Dominique Bagouet, installé avec sa compagnie à Montpellier.Trisha Brown

Congratulations, Trisha! Gish Prize recipients have shaped the cultural landscape in drama, music, dance, art, architecture, lighting design, film and literature. They range from iconic singer/songwriter Pete Seeger, who redefined the American songbook, to writer Chinua Achebe, who put African literature on the map, to Iranian visual artist and filmmaker Shirin Neshat, who gives a voice to those often left unheard. They also include visionaries like American theater director Peter Sellars, multimedia artist/musician (and Trisha Brown collaborator ) Laurie Anderson and actor/director Robert Redford, who continue to make waves.

Abattoir Fermé is een theatergezelschap, opgericht in 1999 in Mechelen, dat zijn artistieke urgentie en inhoudelijke uniciteit vindt in een fascinatie voor ‘de wereld achter het bekende’. In iedere mens en in elke cultuur schuilen immers abjecte werelden, fundamentele angsten en verborgen fantasieën die we graag rationaliseren of vergeten, maar in essentie universeel zijn. Het gezelschap vertaalt deze interesses in een hedendaagse, hypervisuele en essentieel-eigen beeldtaal die morrelt aan de grenzen van theater, film en performance. Het hart van Abattoir Fermé is een hecht makers- en spelersensemble dat bouwt aan een coherent, maar ook hybride oeuvre, dat zowel teksttheater, performance, film, muziektheater, concert, televisie, publicatie enz. omvat. Het gezelschap gaat daarbij telkens op zoek naar datgene wat nét buiten bereik ligt en daarmee een volgende stap in de artistieke ontwikkeling kan zijn.
