Nikola Tesla. Nikola Tesla Pretty much everybody even remotely associated with real-time strategy games has heard the name Tesla before – the Serbian God of Lightning's omnipresent, ever-zapping coils have been ruining the lives of digital Allied soldiers and gibbing U.S. war machines into spare parts since the release of Command & Conquer: Red Alert in 1996 – but surprisingly few people these days are familiar with the life and times of one of humankind's most eccentric, badass, and volumetrically-insane scientific super-geniuses.

First off, Nikola Tesla was brilliant. And not just like Ken Jennings brilliant, either - I mean like, "holy crap my head just exploded (from all the awesome)" brilliant. Of course, much like many other eccentric giga-geniuses and diabolical masterminds, Tesla was also completely insane. TR’s life shows us that hard work, tenacity, and a desire to do the right thing can get you far in life. In the most memorable section of his “Citizenship in a Republic” speech, Roosevelt captured his life philosophy in just a few sentences. “The Man in the Arena” tells us that the man we should praise is the man who’s out there fighting the big battles, even if those battles end in defeat. In our day, when cynicism and aloof detachment are considered hip and cool, TR reminds us that glory and honor come to those “who spend themselves in a worthy cause.” It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.

Design/methodology/approach – The relevant literature was reviewed particularly in the context of the major theories of internationalization. Findings – The positive and negative aspects of each theoretical approach to internationalization are present to form the basis of a new model of international entrepreneurship. Research limitations/implications – The newly developed conceptual model has not been empirically tested.

Originality/value – A redeveloped theoretical integrative conceptual model of international entrepreneurship is proposed based on four internationalization properties (mode, market, product, and time), internationalization performance, and key antecedents and consequences of the internationalization process.
