Traveller Vehicles - Trucks , Buses and Wagons. Icebergs by Daniel Andersson. These floating concept homes from Daniel Andersson were inspired by the idea of an iceberg.

Icebergs by Daniel Andersson

Basically, an iceberg only shows the tip above the water surface and the rest stays hidden below, therefore in these floating summer homes the living space would be primarily located below the surface of the water. Everything is arranged in a spiral format around a central atrium complete with staircase. The roof also functions as a sun deck. According to Andersson, the cottage’s shape is like a ship hull and will push water away to stay afloat. The private quarters would be located below the surface of the water, complete with aquarium-like windows for light and views of fish friends passing by. LivingIs.be. Airstream trailer.

Earlier this year the residency program at the Andes Sprouts Society issued a call for housing units for that fit the theme “Small is Beautiful.”

Rolling Stone Eco-Capsule Home

Among a slew of excellent entries, our favorite was this Rolling Stones traveling capsule by Slovakia-based Nice Architects. Part gypsy wagon, part RV trailer, and all aerodynamic eco-capsule, this mobile modern living structure is compact, built from environmentally friendly materials, and self-sufficient in terms of energy, water and waste. Nice Architects‘ Rolling Stones capsules are inspired by gypsy wagons, which served as both living quarters and backdrops for gypsies work as entertainers. The unit is completely mobile when towed behind a vehicle, and when stationary it can be expanded to form an open air studio space or even a mobile stage.

Man (Re)Builds Mexican Island Paradise on 250,000 Recycled Float

That is exactly what Richie Sowa did back in 1998, from over a quarter-million plastic bottles. His Spiral Island, destroyed years later by a hurricane, sported a two-story house, solar oven, self-composting toilet and multiple beaches. Better yet, he has started building another one! His ultimate goal? To build the island bigger and bigger and finally float out to sea, traveling the world from the comfort of his own private paradise.

The original Spiral Island was (as its successor will be) built upon a floating collection used plastic bottles, all netted together to support a bamboo and plywood structure above. FLOATING HOMES - Förster Trabitzsch. Boat House or House Boat? Futuristic Home on the Water. Most houseboats seem to be designed with one of two primary purposes in mind: they are either constructed as accommodations for semi-permanent living (more house than boat) or they are made to be mobile (more boat than house).

Boat House or House Boat? Futuristic Home on the Water

This unique but yet unbuilt idea balances both sides, possibly better than anything else built to date. The outer spiraling shell structure provides stability and mobility, guarding and moving the home within. Bohemian Flats Boathouse Competition winner. John Vierra, an architecture student from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo sent us his winning entry for the AIAS Vinyl Competition.

The Bohemian Flats, located in an old residential area of Minneapolis, Minnesota has a long history of flooding. According to FEMA, the site has a 1% chance of flooding every year. To respond to this history and promote the longevity of the project, the entire structure rests on a PVC (vinyl) floatation system, allowing the building to move in sequence with the unpredictable nature of the site. The boat house also has the ability to move off site and become an extension elsewhere.
