Kiss (band) Kiss (more often styled as KISS) is an American hard rock band formed in New York City in January 1973.[1] Well known for its members' black and white face paint and flamboyant stage outfits, the group rose to prominence in the mid to late 1970s with their elaborate live performances, which featured fire breathing, blood spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits and pyrotechnics.

Counting the 1978 solo albums, Kiss has been awarded 28 gold albums to date, the most of any American rock band.[2] The band has sold more than 40 million albums in the United States, of which 24 million have been certified by the RIAA[3] and their worldwide sales exceeds 100 million records, making them one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time.[4] The original 1973–80 lineup consisted of Paul Stanley (vocals and rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals and bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar and vocals) and Peter Criss (drums and vocals). He was raised by his mom and step-dad, a dentist, on Lake Lanier. The 11th of 12 children, Brown attended Mashburn Elementary School in Cumming, Georgia; Lakeview Academy in Gainesville, Georgia; and South Forsyth High School in Cumming. He later moved to Dahlonega, Georgia, where he graduated from Lumpkin County High School. He learned to play classical guitar at the age of 7. Formation[edit] In 2002, Zac Brown was traveling with a heavy tour schedule of approximately 200 dates a year. In 2004, Brown opened a music club and restaurant with his father in the Lake Oconee area of Georgia, called "Zac's Place" where the fare was southern-style cooking.

History[edit] Early years (2005-2011)[edit] Hot Chelle Rae was formed in 2005, with the meeting between singer-songwriter Ryan Follesé (born February 16, 1987) and guitarist Nash Overstreet (born January 3, 1986) who were the originally unsigned band Miracle Drug.

Later, Overstreet's childhood friend Ian Keaggy (born June 16, 1987) joined the band as bass player. Ryan Follesé's younger brother, Jamie (born December 30, 1991), was then added into the band.[3] Overstreet is the son of country music singer-songwriter Paul Overstreet and the brother of actor Chord Overstreet. Label executives had refused over 80 songs from the band, believing new material lacked marketability.[10] The documentary film Strong Enough to Break follows these events. Released on April 20, 2004, Underneath sold 37,500 copies on the first week of release in the US alone. The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Top Independent Albums chart[15] and No. 25 on the Billboard 200 album chart,[16] making Underneath one of the most successful self-released albums of all time.[17] In autumn 2005, Hanson toured in the U.S. and Canada to support The Best of Hanson: Live & Electric. On January 15, 2007, Hanson released on iTunes the first episode of their documentary podcast "Taking the Walk", detailing production of the studio album.
