Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions by Randall Munroe, creator of xkcd, to be an entertaining read. But its fun and knowledge value far exceeded my expectations. One of the best non-fiction books I have read in a long, long time, What If? Is a book of science, humor, comics, reference, comedy and trivia. This amazing book of over three hundred pages contains a number of questions that you'd never think of.

Fun, engaging, enlightening and hilarious, this is a must-read book if you want the answer to some weird questions like, Is it possible to cry so much you dehydrate yourself? Amazon.com. Amazon.com. Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase Doidge paints a highly encouraging picture of the research and discovery related to the function and virtually unknown world of how the brain operates and heals itself. For the unenlightened reader it is a journey into a world of discovery that requires extremely pains taking work by very dedicated scientists and medical researchers. And the book talks about genuine cases, where people have suffered debilitating brain injuries and recovered to lead a normal life again, over time.

For a lay person, it is a book that sheds some light on a virtually unknown area of the human anatomy and literally the most important, albeit the most complex part of it. Stroke for one thing in many cases is a highly common, disastrous and debilitating injury to the brain. And though it is essentially life threatening, recovery is possible though it can be painfully slow as well. Amazon.com. Amazon.com. Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase This is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review. I have read many, many diet books over the years and this one is by far the best. Why? Because the food tastes great and the style of eating is totally sustainable over the long-term.

I am not very good at pupil-based soul-reading, but I’ve found that I can learn a lot about a person by the books on his or her shelf. When I go to someone’s house or office for the first time, my favorite thing to do is check out the bookshelf. Here’s what’s on mine: (click to enlarge any and all photos in this post) Storytelling is a powerful force, as I’m a fan of reminding people. A few weeks ago, I decided to conduct a little experiment. I emailed a few friends and people I admired and asked them if I could see photographs of their bookshelves (or book stacks or Kindle screens). Soon, I had more photos than I knew what to do with. The book Vagabonding traveled with me around the globe for 18 months. This post is a dream come true. Starting in college, I’ve fantasized about somehow driving fantastic but under-appreciated books into the limelight.
