Nettime. For the time and attendance software, see NETtime Solutions Real life Meetings[edit] Additional Nettime meetings were held during events like HackIt, (Amsterdam) the Chaos Computer Congress (Berlin), ISEA, the Ars Electronica Festival (Linz), The MetaForum Conferences (95-96) in Budapest.

Nettime

Nettime's one unique event was the Nettime May Conference - Beauty and the East, organized by Ljudmila[disambiguation needed] (Ljubljana). The Hybrid Workspace drew heavily from Nettime during the Documenta X in Kassel. Nettime Publications[edit] Contributions to the mailinglist were periodically collected, usually in connection with a conference.

Wizards of OS

Its topics were the cultural and political potentials of free software, software technology, digital networks and media, and more generally information freedom and open cooperation in the creation and proliferation of knowledge. The conference was interdisciplinary, and included among its attendees scientists, engineers, social researchers, scholars from the humanities, artists and activists. The name was a word play on The Wizard of Oz. The acronym "OS" stands for operating system (not open source). Individual conferences[edit] The first Wizards of OS conference took place in 1999. The third conference took place in 2004, with the subtitle "The Future of the Digital Commons". Wizards of OS 4 took place from September 14 to September 16, 2006, with the subtitle "Information Freedom Rules". External links[edit]

Oekonux. The originally German Oekonux (pronounced "urkonooks") project was founded to research the possibilities of free software to fundamentally change the current political and economic structures.

Oekonux

Oekonux considers that the mode of production of free software represents a new mode of production that has the potential to supersede the capitalist mode of production. See also Hipatia, a related Spanish language initiative. History of the project[edit] At the first „Wizards of OS“ conference in July 1999 a spontaneous discussion round was founded after the panel „New Economy? “. In April 2001 the first Oekonux conference was organized in Dortmund followed by a second conference in November 2002 in Berlin. The project is planning to launch a journal entitled „Critical Studies in Peer Production“.
