Purpose & Objectives What knowledge do teachers need to be able to integrate technology effectively into learning and teaching? There is a comparatively new way of understanding the nature of this knowledge that many educational technologists are finding to be quite helpful. As teachers, we need knowledge about curriculum content (C), teaching (or pedagogy: P), and technology (T) – but that’s not all. Perhaps more importantly, we need knowledge about how to teach in particular content areas (“pedagogical content knowledge:” PC), about how to teach with technology (“technological pedagogical knowledge:” TP), and about how to select and use technologies most appropriately in particular content areas (“technological content knowledge:” TC).

Since Koehler & Mishra (2008) introduced TPACK several years ago, this powerful way of understanding teachers’ technology integration knowledge has spread quickly through schools, districts, and universities worldwide.
