Mary Beth Herron of Ardara is one Leaving Certificate student who can be especially proud today, as she is the only student in Donegal to have studied Japanese. Even though none of the teachers at Glenties could teach the subject and so Mary Beth had to find alternative means of learning the language, she managed to earn top marks, an Honours A1, for her efforts. Harry Reid, principal of St Columba's Comprehensive, was full of praise yesterday for Mary Beth and her amazing achievement.
