That Georgetown, the capital city where we live, could be inundated. Yet this is how water is in Guyana, we say. When the rains come, it’s usually a case of too much rather than too little. That the name Guyana means ‘Land of Many Waters’ has become a cliché of every international article you read about the country, yet to omit it feels like an oversight.
