How to Upcycle thrift store Denim

There are tons of ways to alter, embellish and reconstruct old clothes into current wardrobe pieces. I believe the term is upcycling. Take for instance this denim jacket. The style is inspired by a more expensive retail jacket I shared in a post last month. It’s simple to copy. Next, remove the hood. A big thank you goes out to Emily, our newest contributor, for taking the time to model the jacket for you!! It fits her perfect, and she makes it look even more adorable!!!! I’m really excited about working with our models on more Fashion Friday projects in the future!! Linked to: Pleated Poppy, The Shabby Nest Hi my sweet bloggie friends!!!

DIY BURBERRY INSPIRED JEWELED TRENCH. 9th October 2013 If there’s one thing Burberry does well it’s a trench coat.

DIY BURBERRY INSPIRED JEWELED TRENCH

Not only have they perfected this iconic and staple piece of clothing, some how every season they’re able to reinvent the humble trench into something you’d never expect. Being a lover of all things shiny and bright, you can imagine that I was pretty happy to see the rhinestone embellished trenches that were part of the resort 14 collection, first brought to my attention by my friend Belen of Spanish blog Balamoda. We decided to do a bit of cross country (ok actually cross globe) DIY, both of us creating a project inspired by this collection with pretty Wander & Hunt rhinestones. Read on to see how to make your own. Pin It Pin It Here was our inspiration – the Burberry resort 14 collection.

Cold Shoulder Sweatshirt. Today boys and girls, we will be knocking off this lovely UO cold shoulder sweatshirt.

Cold Shoulder Sweatshirt

I read some of the reviews on this sweatshirt, and apparently the holes appear to be made with scissors. So save your $30 (originally $44) and do it yo’ self! Grab an old sweatshirt, making sure that it is fitted, not oversized. You can eyeball the shoulder holes and start snipping, or turn the shirt inside out, take a small round plate or bowl, and trace a half circle starting on the sleeve seam or wherever you prefer your hole to start (see photo below).

Cut your shoulder holes out, and BAM you’re done. Cut Out Denim. Jersey weave sweatshirt. Did you all have a good weekend?

We pretty much got snowed in so during nap time I thought i'd scratch this little diy off my to-do list... This was the inspiration for this diy. i've had it pinned on pinterest for an eternity. so when I came across $3 sweatshirts at wal-mart the other day i felt like it was just meant to be. i resisted grabbing more than two (i am so bad when it comes to good deals) brought them home and gave them both a good wash and dry. the other one is white and i already have something in mind for it... like it? Would love it if you pinned it :) For more fashion DIY posts simply click HERE. Burberry Studded Trench. Elbow Patch Sweater. When Sophie and I were planning our next DIY I had the “genius” idea of interchangeable velcro elbow patches.

We bought all of the supplies (including suede, leopard and metallic fabrics), worked through the entire project and the results were…let’s just say we decided to start over and use a needle and thread.
