But fast forward 20 years: At 70 your risk for both diseases will roughly double, based on current trends. If you are Hispanic, you'll face different health challenges. A 70-year-old Hispanic woman has a much higher chance of a diabetes diagnosis than a white woman — 26 percent — but a lower chance of cancer, just 7.7 percent.

As you age, you will probably see changes not only in your personal health, but also in your finances and the racial, ethnic and age makeup of your community. Which countries match the GDP and population of America's states? IT HAS long been true that California on its own would rank as one of the biggest economies of the world. These days, it would rank eighth, falling between Italy and Brazil on a nominal exchange-rate basis. But how do other American states compare with other countries? Taking the nearest equivalent country from 2009 data reveals some surprises. Who would have thought that, despite years of auto-industry hardship, the economy of Michigan is still the same size as Taiwan's?

They tend to cluster together both in geography and time. So being on the current data visualization kick I’m on, it sounded like a fun little project.
