However, access to quality organizers often requires either a monthly or an annual fee. Here you will find, what I think, are quality organizers WITHOUT monthly or annual fees. I dug into my own archives that I've accumulated over my 33 year career in search of organizers that focus on reading. Although I found several, I felt that my collection could be more complete. With that in mind, I searched rather thoroughly for graphic organizer ideas wherever I could find them. The result is what you will see on this page--a collection of 50 graphic organizers designed specifically for teaching literature and reading.
Literary Elements Map. An updated version of the Story Map, this interactive best suits secondary students in literary study.
The tool includes a set of graphic organizers designed to assist teachers and students in prewriting and postreading activities, focusing on the key elements of character, setting, conflict, and resolution development (shown at left). As with the Story Map, this interactive can be used in multiple contexts, whether they be author studies, genre studies, or thematic units, among others.
Students can map out the key literary elements for a variety purposes, including response to literature or as a prewriting activity when composing their own fiction. After completing individual sections or the entire organizer, students have the ability to print out their final versions for feedback and assessment. This book list is taken from the Robinson Curriculum. It is written in basically the order of easiest to hardest and I’ve taken someone’s markings for the level of the books. Here’s where I’m getting the list from. There are a few of the required books that I haven’t been able to find online. I wrote them in the list, but there is no link. Ambleside Booklist. I will put up by “year” whatever books on their list can be found for free online.
They have many that cannot be found online. You can go to the Ambleside website to see the complete booklist and to learn about their curriculum and Charlotte Mason education. I’m organizing this just how they do. I’m just going down their list and using the links on their sites. Books to Read and to Listen to. If there is an old book not on here that you want to download to read (or to listen to), go to the Internet Archive or Many Books (for reading) and LibriVox (for listening) and type it into the search box.
As I find suggested books for download that are not on the Ambleside or Robinson curriculum lists, I will add them here in alphabetical order. Remember you can use the search box to find out if there is a certain title. You can make suggestions for books. I’m especially interested in books that will fit topics in science and history.
