Amsterdam ( English / ˈ æ m s t ər d æ m / ; Dutch: [ˌɑmstərˈdɑm] ( listen ) ) is the largest city and the capital of the Netherlands . Its principal language is Dutch. The city's status as the capital of the nation is governed by the constitution . [ 6 ] Amsterdam has a population of 820,256 within city limits, an urban population of 1,209,419 and a metropolitan population of 2,289,762. [ 7 ] The city is located in the province of North Holland in the west of the country. It comprises the northern part of the Randstad , one of the larger conurbations in Europe, with a population of approximately 7 million. [ 8 ] Amsterdam's name is derived from Amstelredamme , [ 9 ] indicative of the city's origin: a dam in the river Amstel .

What hasn’t changed is the friendly, knowledgeable service that’s made Barney’s famous among travelers and locals alike.
I was always told if you to Amsterdam go for a barnies breakfast, so after an epic walk i did, the breakfast was well over priced and the welcome was not the best, getting hassled for ID before we even got to sit down was not fun on an empty belly. Although the smoke was good but that buzz was soon killed when the chef came to collect the plates and questioned me about why i left my beans (that i didnt ask for) he didnt seem to happy. Place seems more of a local place than a place for tourists as friends who have just returned form a trip there with the same kind of stories <p style="text-align:right;color:#A8A8A8"></p>
