They're the stuff of every horror flick you've ever seen -- but they're real. Photographer Dan Marbaix -- of Odins Raven Photography -- has always had a thing for abandoned buildings. When he visited the now-defunct West Park Hospital in England, he realized asylums have everything a photographer wants. Asylums were made so nobody would have to leave, he told HuffPost Weird News, and now, years later, everything is still in place: Beds, photos, and even hair salons are still intact. And they're as creepy as ever. Marbaix declined to give much identifying information about the locations in his photos, saying that many of them end up vandalized and ransacked. "I actually like taking photos of all things abandoned, but I have a particular love of asylums because of their size and range of environments," Photographer Dan Marbaix says.

Zine Infiltration: the zine about going places you're not supposed to go, is a paper publication devoted to the art of urban exploration, a sort of interior tourism that allows the curious-minded to discover behind-the-scenes sights and have a lot of free fun. Several people have given it nice reviews. Infiltration features editorials, exploring advice and information, articles on recent expeditions, and interviews, all illustrated with maps, pictures and diagrams. Introduction In the past three decades of the 20th century, the Western world has witnessed massive industrial restructuring. New service and information technology industries have replaced the old heavy industries which saw countries such as Britain, workshop of the world and home of the industrial revolution, export its products worldwide.
The buildings which house these new industries – the large retail sheds and factory units on new industrial estates – are replacing the often capacious stone and brick-built factories and warehouses which accommodated the assembly lines of mass production. These structures, nestling alongside railways and canals, are suddenly obsolete. Most studies of ruins have concentrated on the noble piles of classical antiquity, scenes of rural quaintness or the fake ruins installed in English country estates. These ruins are largely understood – especially by bureaucrats, city promoters and planners - as offensive to the character and aesthetics of the city.
